I didn't stay sane, I lost my mind lol.
When it happens, it's all the more exciting if you had to wait and build up the anticipation though.

I ended up in Meadowhall last night given the issues on t' '62, and wandered round looking at rings in all the jewellers windows. I didn't quite have the guts to go in and try any on though.

I am curious to know whether what I think I like, is what I actually like!

In other news OH and I have a date to move. On the one hand, I think he's been waiting for us to live together to pop the question. On the other, I think we're going to be too skint for him to buy a ring although I've tried to make it clear that I don't need an expensive one.

We've been together 10 years now and went out last weekend to celebrate; at one point he categorically said he wasn't planning any surprises. To be fair I didn't expect one, but it's nice to be warned so I don't get my hopes up. ;)

Have you ever been on Wedding Bee? There are LOTS of ring threads on there which is quite handy for ringspiration. Lots of people have diamond alternatives like moissonite and white sapphires.

I know I don't like pave style rings with diamonds all around the band or clusters with lots of stones. I just worry about one dropping out and not noticing. I think they can look a bit harsh and sharp sometimes too with all the little teeth holding them in. I saw some beautifully ornate shanks this morning though that almost made me wish I hadn't gone for a more simple style!

I found one on Etsy that I love, it's Paul Michael Design's Sonic Solitaire <3

I drunkenly broached the subject of marriage to OH and he's apparently not averse to it someday :) PROGRESS!!

Thats brilliant HBS, i went away with some of his family and the advice they gave me was a. we should split up, and b. if we got married i should only have a small wedding as thats all that matters. I have 80 people in my close family.. I've not spoken to OH about it yet as he knows what family means to me but showed me what they think of us sadly...
  • Was told basically the other week that we can't/won't get married because 'we can't afford it'

    Money saving - yes
    heartbreaking - completely

It's really upset me because I was really hoping it would happen in the next 2 years. I don't even want a circus, small would do as long as we were both there cos lets face it that's all that really matters.

    oh chicacherrycola thats sucks. hugs

wedding talk came up again between us, and the BF is already panicking about asking my dad in July. Poor sod will have only a short window, while my mother and I are running the race for life!

BF went away today for 4 weeks, so tonight is telly, teddy and wine night! and feeling sorry for myself!

    Just found this thread :)

I've been waiting almost 6 years. Its getting to the point where I'm thinking of leaving him because of it; I want and need commitment, and I'm getting nothing.
