Waiting for a proposal - how did you stay sane?!

  • Does everyone on here love surprises and therefore are you unlikely to want involvement in choice of engagement ring?

My OH was a bit lost basically and being the control freak I am I was more than happy to help :rotfl:

Some people seem really anti that though. He hasn't proposed, but I don't really like all that. I don't like the attention or the fuss (I can deal with Facebook because I can hide behind the computer screen!). I think OH isn't much impressed with how its gone ie. in an ideal world he would have surprised me (despite the fact he knows I would have loathed it), but I think that's a man and his pride more than anything. And I don't know if I'm allowed it when its ready or not technically...

We chose my ring together. But then he went off and bought it without my knowledge so it still ended up surprising me when he proposed. I'm a bit fussy; I'm sure I would've loved anything he chose for me but I am glad that we chose it together.

Had a chat with the BF yesterday, about timings....
If he had his own way we would just get pregnant now. He knows that isn't going to happen. I told him that i was hoping to get married Sept 2016 ish, as i want to have children soon. I asked him how old he wanted to be when he had kids (he is 5yrs older than me) he said not too old.

Hopefully he has now worked out, that in order to have babies in 2017, we should get married in 2016 so he needs to get his butt in gear and ask my dad and then me.....
He will be seeing my dad in July, and then maybe again in August and then not for 8months. If he bottles it again :(

Anyway I have now promised myself that i will not bring it up again until September. It's going to be hard. I'm hoping that he will ask in July and then propose before September.... Arghhhhhhhhhhhh

  • Jojo-Baby - At least your OH has timescales of something in his head! :) My OH is always vague about everything, kids included! I don't work like that :rotfl:

Fingers crossed :D Do you know what kind of wedding you'd like?

I came up with a reason for getting married before kids that OH can not argue with! ;)

My body will change with having a child. Chances are my waist will thicken and I will lose my hour glass figure. It might be a fat hourglass at the minute (working on that) but it still goes in, in the middle! I said that I wanted to be able to look back on our wedding photos in 20+ years and not wish that my body could've been different.

I think I did a good job of convincing him :rotfl:

My ring is ready.....:j Paris is in three days I can't wait.

I also asked his parents for permission to marry their son. Let's just say that I couldn't have a better reaction. They both said yes and even suggested places in Paris.

    So I wait.........:)

We are engaged! In a little garden in Paris. It was beautiful, we are just round to telling people. But it's not official yet. The rest of his family don't know......:)
