Waiting for a proposal - how did you stay sane?!

So the rings were brought yesterday. That was a lot easier than expected
I am now keeping his ring, my ring is getting sized so now to wait for the ring to be ready.
And wait for the proposal......0 -
Oooooooh what are the rings like gothrockchick?
My cousin got engaged the other day whilst on holiday abroad. I feel a bit sick how big a deal the family are making it. All 'can't wait for a family knees up'. Going to be so awkward because I know it will be a very big wedding with everyone there and I would have no intention of doing the same but obviously I've now seen everyone's expectations... Going to put so many noses out of joint
Feels stupid to worry about it but I'm not the kind to want to be engaged 2-3 years and save up for a big wedding, so potentially could be married before my cousin. I don't know how to not invite most of the family but they drink far too much and become very unpleasant with it at times so I just wouldn't want to give them the opportunity.0 -
Hi Goldenshadow
His ring is a Titanium band with a carbon fibre strip through it, his choice!
Mine is a white gold cluster diamond (which I am not ashamed to say it was on sale ):j. So mine is worth more than we paid for it
I know what you mean Goldenshadow I want to be married next year but that depends on budget! I think I have waited long enough for the engagement not wait too long for the wedding!0 -

They sound lovely! My dad's ring had a stripe of Whitby jet, looked really good against the shiny band. And fabulous re the sale on yours, can't say no to a bargain, especially the shiny sparkly kind :rotfl:0 -
Am I a complete psycho? I've begun looking at wedding bits and bobs, and my BF hasn't proposed to me yet! Er, I've even found my wedding dress... :eek:0

Went away with my parents this weekend, and while we were there the family dog died very very unexpectantly, jumped in a puddle and gone. Given he'd been running around manically all day, was a huge shock. And my OH was upset that he wouldn't be able to have dog as his best man now. Being distraught, my answer was 'should have asked me sooner then.' Hind sight is a wonderful thing, and now its sunk in dogs gone it's settling down again. I think its put him off getting a dog though, hes that upset and only knew dog 4 years.

Erm no, I started looking for my wedding dress when I started seeing OH.
At least you know what you want :T0 -
Does everyone on here love surprises and therefore are you unlikely to want involvement in choice of engagement ring?
My OH was a bit lost basically and being the control freak I am I was more than happy to help :rotfl:
Some people seem really anti that though. He hasn't proposed, but I don't really like all that. I don't like the attention or the fuss (I can deal with Facebook because I can hide behind the computer screen!). I think OH isn't much impressed with how its gone ie. in an ideal world he would have surprised me (despite the fact he knows I would have loathed it), but I think that's a man and his pride more than anything. And I don't know if I'm allowed it when its ready or not technically...0 -
GoldenShadow I wanted involvement. The reason is that I have been engaged before (when I was young and stupid) and I hated my ring as it was picked for me.
There's nothing more exciting than going into a jewellers together and picking rings.0 -
I'm not necessarily bothered about picking my ring, but I do know the sort of thing I like.
We've been looking in jewelers windows today and he said "I thought you wanted something with a twist, that one has three stones" so he has been paying attention! I said I liked both styles but I wanted something relatively small and simple but different to a solitaire.0
