No Christmas day sparkly for me... But I wasn't really expecting it!
I did however get some gorgeous presents from the Mr that were very 'me'... He obviously knows me better than I realised! Hehe0 -
I am very happy to be reporting that my other half got down on one knee and asked me to marry him
:D:D:D As much as I knew it would happen at somepoint I was still in total shock and cried it was so romantic!!!!
Hold in there though, it is totally worth the wait!!

Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! CONGRATULATIONS NEWTHRIFT!
I am sooo happy for you, and that you have that lovely sparkly ring firmly on your finger now! Do we get a peek at the ring (don't worry if you would rather keep it off the forum but I can't resist asking!)?0 -
Congratulations Newthrift what fab news!
Just an update from me. I did talk to OH a few months ago. Should preface with I am absolutely awful at this stuff and as expected just got massively upset.
He got angry about the whole thing and said that while he does want to marry me, he did not want to be pressured into it. He asked me to wait until things were better (I guess more financially secure).
I left it at that. Our three year anniversary came and went uncelebrated. Some more friends got engaged over Christmas and I nearly bit his head off when he mentioned it. Want to be happy for them, but just don't know where to go from here.
Excuse the pity party!0 -
Sending you a big hug waiting450. I went through a stage of getting very emotional when talking about marriage because I wasn't 100% sure where my Oh was at with his thinking as our chats before had been vague. We had a much more detailed chat a couple of months ago and since then our conversations are now much more open and with no worry or emotional tears as I know we are on the same page. You said your Oh said he wants to do it when things are better - can you ask him what he means by that? Then you know what you are working towards and a general timeframe. I found not knowing a timescale was what made me emotional as I was worried OH was thinking several years rather than several months.
Well.... my 2015 will be seen in with just me and the OH tonight. We have both come down with a cold (although of course his is much worse than that haha) so we are staying in and cuddling up together. I am not fussed that we are missing a night out, I am spending it warm with the one I love and maybe a cheeky drink too (it is new year afterall!). I feel like 2015 will be exciting year for us, 2014 certainly was as we moved in together at the start of the year.
I am also taking all your advice and having a browse of some engagement rings with my girlfriends in a couple of weeks. We were off shopping anyway. OH actually told me that I should know what ring style I want and my girlfriends should know so he can ask for advice and sizing when the time is right... so now it doesn't feel so weird that I am doing it! haha0 -
prettykittykat have fun browsing, I will get a picture uploaded so you can have a peek
Hugs to you waiting450Christmas is the most magical time of the year :santa2:

Looking forward to peeking at your picture NewThrift
Now the Christmas and New Year engagements have died down it is time to brace ourselves for the impending Valentines proposals hahaha... I am crossing my fingers for you ladies!0 -
jojo-baby I know that feeling. You just never know
It will come when you least expect it.
I guess you might be right, it didn't happen over Christmas or New Year! hahaha
But right now I'm feeling pretty OK with things as they are.
I was offered a fantastic opportunity in 2016, however in the back of my mind I was thinking, but if i am going to get married in 2016 then i cant do this as well...
SO i was brave and spoke to BF about this, and how i thought maybe we would get married in 2016 and then i couldn't do this opportunity. He very quickly said something about "hold on i havent proposed yet" and insteal of getting scared and stopped i managed to calmly asked him if he was on the same page me and that a 2016 wedding was a possibility. He said that he thought it was too. :j
One slightly sad note is that he will get married for me, and thats his only reason and he has already said that he doesn't look forward to being the centre of attention for the day. I find this super sad, that he would go through something which he doesn't want to do for me.
But that's love i guess!0 -
