Waiting for a proposal - how did you stay sane?!

Hi everyone!
I've been (obsessively) reading this thread for the last few days. When I found it I was like "Are you all me??!" lol!
I'm 24, my boyfriend is 28, not far off 29, and we've been going out for 4 and a half years, lived together for the last 3 (and have a cat!).
When I met OH, I was only 19 and didn't think I ever wanted to get married, while he's a bit more traditional and always said he wanted to be married with kids by the time he was 30. Time has gone on and I've realised that I DO want to be married, not to anyone, but just to him iyswim. He still wants to get married and we often talk about "when we get married" or plan for the future together etc. but I want to know, when we've talking like this for 2 years or so, why we aren't engaged yet??
He is super romantic and amazing at organising surprises do probably has some ridiculously elaborate plans in place but why is it taking so long??!Part time working mum | Married in 2014 | DS born 2015 & DD born 2018

Ok I am an old skool lady to this thread and I kind of left because it was hurting that everyone was getting engaged/married and it was looking like it was never going to happen for me even after looking at rings
Anyway, I know it is bad of me but I wanted to share my very exciting news
I am only engaged woohoo, no one else in the world knows yet, but I have picked the ring and Fiance (eek) has put the deposit down and it's on order and everything!!!!!
It was not the most romantic proposal but it was a complete surprise and I never ever ever thought it was going to happen, so cried, lots haha and it was very special to me
Please please all the other girls waiting don't ever ever ever give up hope. Loads of hugs for you all xxx
Ps wedding is a few years off0 -

Congrats to all who've managed to get their proposals!!!
Reading the stories are making my eyes well...
I was with my ex for 6 years, and a few month before we split, my brother got married. I stood at the edge of the dance floor watching them on their first dance: tears tripping meI knew that was what I wanted (and I also knew it wasn't with my ex who was prob off getting drunk!). It wasn't so much the wedding and white dress etc etc, but it was the part where I would be standing in a crowded room with the guy that I loved, and I'd be completely oblivious to anyone and everything around me...
Now I've got OH! :smileyhea
I'm with OH since June last year and couldn't help but move in by December! I know this is the guy I want to spend the rest of my life with, and I know he feels the same. I knew within a couple of months.
He's been married before and I seriously doubt that he would ever consider getting married againHe already has 3x DD from his marriage too (he has full custody). I know that because we're living together I do feel secure in the relationship and I don't need to be married for that feeling. But it's when I'm reading threads like this I do think that maybe I do want to be married after all...
It's funny though coz every so often he'll refer to himself as my husband or he'll call me Mrs OH lolI really don't want to get my hopes up and think that maybe someday he will. He knows I'd say yes in a flash. I'd be tempted to ask myself but think I'd probably chicken out...!!
