Waiting for a proposal - how did you stay sane?!

  • Congrats Ally :j:j:j
  • Had some proposal/wedding chat with a friend tonight when we were out tonight, she hints to her bf too :rotfl: it's nice being able to talk about it as most of my friends, lovely though they are, would think I was insane. They are mostly single or in uncommitted relationships and think there's no reason to get married in this day and age! Very frustrating as I feel I have to downplay how I feel or else look like a proper old woman :(

    Congrats Ally! Awesome news!

Still nothing here... Saw a cool thing on Facebook the others day...

Everyone is either pregnant or getting married... I'm just getting more awesome.

    I like to think that's true :/

I have a new job now so we don't work together any more... And I think it's helping because we miss each other more now...

Anyway.. Congrats to everyone that's got engaged in the last few months... Squirrel I love the pic! Amazing! Congrats

Hi to all the newbies too! Xxx

    Ally!!! Thats wonderful congratulations :)
  • Well I have just been in town and decided to get my ring finger sized. The girl at the jewellers gave me a card with the size on so I can stick it on the fridge with a magnet! Let's hope he gets the hint!
  • tiny_atoms :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Loving the subtlety of your hint! Fingers crossed he takes it!!

In exciting news, I was having a conversation last night with OH about what he's going to do with all his cash if he gets the fantastic new job he interviewed for on Friday:

Me: "In exchange for my help with the application, I want you to set up a pension if you get it!"

OH: "Of course, I'm really grateful!"

Me: [in lecture mode] "And a direct debit to your savings account. I mean you can still treat yourself, but I want you to put aside a little bit every month" [subtext: he isn't good at saving and has no money put aside and I secretly think we'll never be able to afford a wedding/house/kids etc if he doesn't start]

OH: [looks very seriously at me] "Of course I will. I have certain things in mind I want to save up for."

Me: [heart skips a beat]: "Do you mean sparkly things that sit on my finger and sparkle??!" [I am also as subtle as a brick wall!]

OH: [looks at me a bit oddly and laughs] "Well, yeah."

Me: [nervously] "I guess I better start saving up too, to buy dinner for everyone we know."

OH: "THAT WAS WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT!"

Normally when I rabbit on about sparkly rings he just laughs at me and says "One day soon" or worse, "cheque, please!" with a fake worried look. THIS IS PROGRESS!

  • Sounds very positive! I spoke to my OH last night. He said he doesn't want me to just presume that we'll get married because he feels like it'll never be a suprise if he asks. I don't think he likes me thinking it will happen, he's weird like that.

    I guess I'm ready and he's not..
