We have a Tesco DVD rental subscription (think we pay £12 a month to have 2 DVDs at a time) and tend to rent our way through box sets of TV shows (as well as films) via it a lot. Because we're not after the brand new mega releases we tend to get box sets quite quickly and they do manage to send one disc in a set, followed in the correct order by the others fairly quickly. Think we're currently up to about series 4 of Lost which is STILL making naff all sense!Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
Deadwood is good (especially if you were ever a Young Guns film fan/modern made westerns) Also another vote for Prisonbreak, Bones, CSI (vegas, miami or new york) NCIS, Criminal minds, Numbers ... I like crime based series! Lie to me was also quite good.
DH liked Carnival but I just couldn't get into it.:j BSC #101 :j0 -
The Street is probably the best British TV series ever. An absolute bargain for £16 - it's £32 on Play!
I agree, this is brilliant0 -
'White Collar' about an FBI agent and his criminal informant is well worth a look and has just finished its second season in the US. It's a little more light-hearted than some of the other shows people have mentioned, but is worth it for Neal Caffrey's gorgeous face alone!

Aye, I heard. Ahh well...
On the plus side, for me at least, Boardwalk Empire, Blue Bloods and Game of Thrones all got renewed. :j0 -
I have liked similar to you and could suggest the following:
Upstairs Downstairs
House of Eliott
Family at War
Secret Army.
If you go to Amazon and type in the above it suggests others you may like. Hope this helps0 -
I have bought some of the boxsets of the foreign dramas that BBC4 have been showing. I don't usually buy boxsets which shows how impressed I was by them. The Killing is sensational and I love the Swedish Wallander. I am currently working my way through Spiral thanks to my lovefilm subscription.0

Sons of Anarchy! (Think I've previously ranted about how good this is on here!)
I love loads of the shows already mentioned (Dexter, True Blood, Breaking Bad) but was blown away by Sons of Anarchy.0 -
The Wire, Broadwalk Empire, The Thick Of It.0

What about The West Wing?0
