  • Thank you, Bit nervous as the we have a baby due in 5 weeks and the last thing I need is hassle on the doorstep, we'll have enough on our plates.

Sorry for reviving such an old post, I'll search through the newer ones, but take it they will still say ignore....

There will never be any "hassle on your doorstep". Don't forget that debt collectors are just powerless private citizens. They are not bailiffs and they never visit anyone's house.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?

Hi Rob. We have successfully ignored TPS. As far as anyone can tell there is no record of TPS taking court action against anyone. You seem a little confused about the term CCJ- County Court Judgement. TPS cannot send bailiffs round or affect your credit rating. To make you pay they would have to defeat your defence in the county court- Extremely unlikely. The only way of getting a CCJ is if you don't pay a court order. Seriously you have more chance of winning the Euro millions jackpot than losing in court to these shysters. You will receive letters from debt collectors threatening dire things but just ignore these clowns.

The more unpleasant threats usually include mentioning that, if the case goes to court, a county court judgement (CCJ) will be issued, that bailiffs will be appointed and that your credit rating will be ruined. For things to actually get to this stage, the car park owner would have to take you to court and win the case. Then, you would have to refuse to pay, to get a CCJ issued after 28 days. Then, you would have to still refuse to pay, to get bailiffs appointed.
The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life. :)
  • Ignore! I'm on letter 6 from them at Central Retail Park, for apparently being seen 'leaving the site' (the fact I was walking to the pavement that runs alongside the place to safely walk to Dunelm Mill was irrelevant to them).

In fact, I've just found out from Wrexham Council they didn't even have planning permission for the cameras, so they're illegally there in the first place!

Do nothing, don't pay, they can do NOTHING!

What on earth makes you think they can send the boys round?

It's almost laughable but sadly it's misunderstandings like yours that mean uninformed people pay these scammers.

They think it's a real parking fine = WRONG.

They think because the DVLA release the registered keeper's data that the PPC must have some sort of authority = WRONG.

They think that because major retailers like Supermarkets use these firms that it 'can't be a scam' = WRONG.

They think that a debt collector can/will call round = WRONG.

They believe the threats in the template 'debt collector' letters = WRONG.

Just play snap with the letters, it's EASY. I am an ordinary wife and Mum with a responsible job and clean credit record and I have ignored 2 fake PCNs. I would very happily collect more and laughed when I got both of mine. :)

If you had come off this ancient thread you must have stumbled across, and instead looked at the current forum (one click away) you would have seen the current threads about the 'fake PCN' scam. We have about 20 - 30 new threads/posts every day, all asking the same thing (never mind a 9 month old archived thread!).

Whenever you find an old forum thread (not just MSE) always look at the current forum by clicking on the breadcrumb trail above it. You will soon be whizzing around any forums you like, looking at updated posts and current info!

See my signature to see the words to click on (the breadcrumb trail above). Click once. Look at the current forum not this thread. Read the sticky thread second from the top 'PPC letter chains'. Watch the Watchdog clip linked on there and read the other links at the top. Check out the letter-chain pics so you both know what to expect = MORE LETTERS!

It's only junk mail, nothing more.

Done that loads of times with info and links about specific issues, but nothing came of it. However the more the merrier and they may well investigate PPCs again which is ALWAYS good for a laugh and for spreading the word about the scam.

TPS and others are discussed every day here - you found a really old thread here but missed the forum itself which is live and updated every day.

    Usual advice here:

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/...9#post59017859

Forum with lots of info here:

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=163

I would appeal to TPS and then appeal to POPLA to cost them money. If you don't know what POPLA is it's because you didn't click to the forum, and this thread is pre-POPLA it's so old! See the forums stickies (the top sticky threads but not 'Park Right') on that second link. Word the POPLA appeal right and it should be cancelled. And complain in writing to the Store Manager - is this the way he/she want their customers treated? Do they want to lose your business?

Obviously don't pay the scammers. If you don't want to or don't have time to appeal then just ignore the letters all year - but if you are scared by this laughable fake PCN you'll be very scared by the debt collector threats (see the sticky thread 'PPC letter chains' and look at the Pre-October link to a gallery full of threatograms people have ignored over the years). So I think you'd be better doing a stroung appeal to POPLA with our help to word it.

Can I just also add though that you do not have a right to a P&C bay, they are just a useless gimmick which annoys us here as they are not needed, not legal, not a right, and make people think they either 'have to' park in a disabled bay or park across two bays like you did. It's a set-up by the PPC scammers to fool people into thinking they have a right to park that way, with extra space either side just because they have a baby or child...and soon people like yourself fall foul of the scam. And all the time the PPC looks good in the eyes of the Store and unsuspecting people who are pleased there are 'P&C bays' as if it's a good thing. It isn't.

I am a Mum of 4 and always parked in normal bays even when I was alone with a baby plus 3 kids under seven in tow. Please park normally in a normal bay; P&C bays are just a waste of space and cause this very issue. At least you didn't park in a disabled bay (which are a legal right under the Equality Act, so are a good thing) which a poster on here last week did which sparked a discussion and a half!
