TPS parking charge notice - Wrexham

• Hi we have just had our first letter same car park asking for £70
but if paid within 10 days £50, sounds same letter, going to take advice given on this thread and ignore, there must be lots of people who have just payed up?

Unfortunately there are too many people out there who are scared of what they perceive as "Authority", are ignorant of the law, have more money than sense, or are just plain daft.
Please tell all your family, friends, colleagues etc about this scam, show them the letters you are ignoring and direct them to this forum. The more people understand, the sooner these scum will cease to exist.
• Hi Toolmaker99

Sorry to hear you had same experience in the same car park - There were definately no bloody warning signs or notices on view

I have just received letter number 5 from TPS Shysters today - the latest one is courtesy of Debt Recovery Plus in Oldham - (which I understand is part of the same Dodgy Cowboy outfit )

The letter is warning that further litigation may be pursued if I fail to reply in 7 days and cough up £148.99 !!! Cheeky F@#*%ng sods

They also indicate a link to debtrecoveryplus to show "successful" ccj's record - but I think this little scam has been already explained in these threads too.

Although, it would usually be a bit unnerving not to respond I will be ignoring this one too.

Regards and good luck with yours
• I have received a further letter from Debt Recovery Plus (part of TPS shower of shysters)

They say in this letter entitled "Reduced Payment Offer" that they have referred my case to their Client (tps) with a recommendation for the issue of county court action -

However they would offer me a reduced charge of £119.19 if I cough up within 7 days !!!!!!!! How very benevolent of them - this seems to be their standard scam ploy by all accounts.

What a joke -they are :rotfl: - Well I wont be paying anything, zilch, nada, nowt at all so they can whistle up their own exhaust tail-pipe I'm sticking to my guns :T and no mistake.

How many letters has anyone else recieved as part of the "full TPS swindling process"

Thanks for all advice received.

Looking at the list in the first posting here
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2214803 it looks like 9 letters is a possibility.

You could send them a blank piece of paper which looks like a cheque in an envelope addressed to them (make it addressed to Accounts Receivable) but accidentally forget to place a stamp on the letter.

Hi

I've been reading some of the threads on here about Car Park Scams - I too received a poor photocopied "PCN" in the post from TPS at the weekend following a recent journey to Wrexham where I parked at their Central Retail Park - the Notice seems to fit the same description as others referred to on here. eg "2 pics, time in, time out, breach of parking T's & C's, prominently displayed signs" bla blah blah.

I was fuming when I opened the letter, demanding a £50 penalty fee - I never saw any prominent signs that said it was a private car park.

I guess the general advice will be not to pay it and ignore them. It's just so annoying that these !!!!!!!s can operate like this.

Has anyone else had a similar experience at Wrexham Retail Park.

Cheers

hi i also received a letter from tps for staying over the 2 hour limit at the same place,

the poor quality photo evidence the have of me leaving the park is almost completely black and only shows the lights on my car, there is no way you can read the number plate from the photo although they placed a seperate image below, which i guess is supposed to look like a zoomed in image of my number plate (undeniable evidence !!)

apart from that the thing that annoyed me was that on the letter is says i over stayed on their clients property, when the place that i parked was on the side of the retail park which all the stores closed down a long time ago, just empty buildings there now!

can they still send out these notices even though their clients no longer have stores there? And even if i did pay who would this money be going to?

Their client is whoever owns the car park , so yes they can still send their begging letters on behalf of the land owner..just ignore them.
• Hi, I've had one of these, I'm on letter number 2 asking for £70, am I still safe to ignore these? parked for 2h 20m in an empty carpark at 5pm..... But I've heard that the law is changing this year to make it easier for them to get the cash. Should I crumble and take the hit????? Am tempted to ignore but don't like the idea of a ccj or court action.

You've landed on a 9 month old thread. Did you check any of the more recent threads on this forum? Nothing has changed. The Freedom Act brings in keeper liability in October. This doesn't actually make it easier for them to get the money. Well, maybe it does slightly, as they have a person they can pursue for the money. However, that person (you) still doesn't have to pay. There are lots of other hurdles in the way of the PPC, such as them not being able to enter into a contract with the driver (or keeper) if they don't actually own or lease the car park.

Just keep ignoring.

Plus, the new law will only apply to 'contraventions' that occur after Oct. They cannot retrospectively apply it to existing tickets.

They will still struggle though, as ST says, their position doesn't improve very much if at all.
