Maybe you need to read the highway code?

    who me?
    no
i read all the thread it states a woman walked straight onto crossing without looking
i said i would blow my horn
you said you would walk onto crossing as if you were the woman and then report me for for advising that i had nearly run you down as i did an emergancy stop
maybe you need to read threads a little more carefully rather than picking bones

A sensible pedestrian would do this by just putting a single foot on the road, "claiming" the crossing without putting themself at risk from a driver that is unable to overcome the laws of physics.

My personal "favourite" is the young mothers that swing out the pushchair into the road when they turn around. Most crossings have fences these days which obscure a pushchair. Then they stand with their feet on the curb oblivious to the fact that their child is 3 feet out into traffic.

Bonus points if they do this on a busy road and not at a crossing

    spot on
in fact when i am a pedestrian at some crossings i have been known to roll my trouser leg up to get drivers attentions to stop
it does work usually but the wife gets embarrased
women pushing prams into roads anywhere seems to be endemic these days too

Sounds like a suicidal pedestrian, but it's still the drivers fault in the eyes of the law.

My local Morrisons has such a crossing on it's carpark, drivers are too busy looking for a space next to the store, to actually take mind of the fact that there's a pedestrian crossing.... Many a conflict has occurred.

I look square at the driver and cross, they tend to stop if you wave a backpack in front of you, obviously backpacks will damage the car more than flesh and bones..... Obviously.

You do it your way, if we ever meet and you decide I need to know you're there after you stop, I'll do it my way.
If you don't stop, you can fell smug, but I'll sue you, and as I was on the crossing I'll win.
At least if you sound your horn you'll attract a few witnesses that can get me an ambulance as well.

That's because the traffic hasn't stopped, which it should do when the pushchair is on the crossing.
What's the other way, the mother walks out, then walks back to the pavement for the pushchair I suppose.

No, I'd be on the phone reporting you for the reasons I said.
If you admit to the police you weren't expecting anyone to step onto the crossing, and weren't prepared to stop, that's your choice.
Either way you'd be waiting a lot longer for your impatience.

Maybe you need to read the highway code?

Would you really expect a driver to wait for you while you were calling the police? Honestly most people would just drive off.

    so to understand this right
you walk onto a pedestrian crossing as you have your head down,me as a driver has to do an emergancy stop because you gave me no warning and to try and minimise carnage also blow the horn as the highway code suggests, you meanwhile as the person walking in front of me probably already talking on the phone anyway want to sue me for your negligence
well i look forward to seeing you in court,oh and by the way i usually have a dash camera on the go smarty pants:)

    Lum,

There's a few 'mothers' around our area who regularly assert their wish to cross a road by swinging a pram with child inside out onto the road- If you're too close to stop, it could have serious repercussions- what on earth would possess a person to endanger a child like that?
