Can I warn anyone considering opening an A&L account with a friend to benefit from the free £50 incentive, that you cannot open the accounts on the same day.
I saw the offer, filled in my form, emailed the link to my girlfriend suggesting she does the same, and after several months of chasing the missing money have received a letter stating that neither of us will be entitled to the £50 offer as our two accounts were opened on the same day. I don't believe we applied on the same day, but A&L certainly opened the accounts on the same day.
I went back to the small print, and sure enough this point was mentioned. It's a silly way to lose £100 so don't do the same!
I plan on disputing it all the same if only to waste a bit of their time...0 -

Did the exact same. I applied on one day, the gf the next. Accounts appear to have been opened on the same day, so I'm unsure if we'll get the cashback or not.0 -
I would like to open an Alliance & Leicester account and a Lloyds TSB current account. Please could anyone with either of these accounts refer me, so we can both obtain the incentives.

Yes I always caution people to wait until the first person has received their welcome pack with the date of opening on it before the second person opens their account as and then this sort of thing can't happen. They do seem to do things in batches and the day you apply online isn't always the day they open the account so it's not worth taking the risk of just waiting a day or two. It is a real shame that some people end up missing out for the sake of a few days. The only thing in your favour is I have seen A&L miss quite a lot of rule violations in regard to refer a friend incentive payments so you may get lucky if they're not thorough with your particular case.

It seems the incentive has been reduced to UKP 25 just recently. Disappointingly, I started the application process when the full UKP 50 was still available. I wondered if someone might happen to have a copy of the pdf file with the old version of the offer that they could either post here (or email me). I am sure many others would also appreciate that. Thanks!0 -

Hi Bloggs,
The incentive has been reduced to £30 each effective from the 1st of May but so long as you have opened your account between April 2nd and April 30th you should still get the £50 incentive so long as you use the correct voucher. You may have got a copy of the correct version of the voucher in your welcome pack so check there first. If not then I have a copy of the old April £50 version but as it is saved as a file I can't post the link here - I'm happy to email it to you or anyone else who needs it though.
Regards

I submitted my application electronically on 27/4 but only received the welcome pack yesterday (2/5). I have an email saying my application was successful dated 27/4 but it is ambiguous as to when the opening date was. With a bit of luck that will be good enough.mleonard79 wrote: »You may have got a copy of the correct version of the voucher in your welcome pack so check there first.
There was a voucher but only for UKP25 (though I note there seems to be a UKP30 version mentioned on the website). The friend has had his account for some time and has thrown away his welcome pack, which would in any case have been issued before the offer became available.mleonard79 wrote: »If not then I have a copy of the old April £50 version but as it is saved as a file I can't post the link here - I'm happy to email it to you or anyone else who needs it though.
Thank you! That would merit 50 quid worth of virtual gratitude :j Once again, many thanks!0 -

Hi Bloggs,
I usually take the date on the welcome letter as the official date the account has been opened but I think it would be extremely harsh of them to disqualify you from the £50 deal when you applied on the 27th of April and if they did I think you could successfully argue against it.There was a voucher but only for UKP25 (though I note there seems to be a UKP30 version mentioned on the website). I've sent the voucher to the email address you've given but just for your information (I can see you're a newbie so it's not a big wrap over the knuckles as we're a welcoming bunch here!) you're not allowed to post your personal details including email address on any of the public forums as you can see HERE. It's for your own protection really - you can remove it by clicking edit at the bottom of the post and then just deleting the text. If you need to send someone your email address you can PM them (click on their username and then on send a private message to ...) and you can add your email address to your profile also.
