Ok just ordered lockdown art for £4.50.  Figured I am supporting a family somewhere and I couldn't find one I liked more than it.  Just hope it looks as good when it arrives :)  Friend has heard from hospital and her mum is stable.  Looks like they will be giving her a pacemaker at some point but meds at the moment to make her stable, so looking better

    Hello!
Have you heard about the chom chom roller? I'm still waiting for mine to turn up but people have been raving about how they collect hair. Might work for you? I paid £4 for mine so I'll need to wait for mine.
I love this is nessie and she is doing a new print where she does a bouquet of all the families birth flowers in one bunch. That could work for your art work?

    You're brilliant. Keep going xxx

Aw thank you Kitten868.  I have never heard of the chom chom roller.  I will have a google for it.  The print I have chosen I didn't read all of the information. Turns out I have to print it out myself.  Not a problem, but might do it when I can get to the professional printers after lockdown.  I will have a look at your other suggestion though too.  I have always wanted to make the house a bit more girly, and photos on the wall of the kids but OH wasn't into it at all.  Now I have decided to stay put in this house I can start decorating it my way.

Ok so a while ago when PPI was starting to finish I thought why not and signed up with a company to look into things.  Yes I could have done it but have always been told that because we had DMP and we completed full and final payments to the companies that would have been claiming against, that we would not be due anything.  Anyway since then I have had a few text messages to fill in forms etc.  Well this morning it turns out I have a payment waiting for me.  I was a bit dubious as companies like this normally charge huge commission and to be honest as I wasn't expecting anything back I didn't really look into this (so not MSE of me).  Anyway I rang them and I am due £3.5K ish, but need to hand £900 back in commission.  Will leave me with roughly £2500.  I am happy with that even though I could have got the full amount if I had done it myself.  I am concerned however that the company I am getting the money from might want some of their money back as even though full and final settlements were made we did not pay the loans off in full.  I did ask the gentleman on the other end of the phone and he said that normally this would have been taken into consideration before they made the offer, but still wary.  I also have letters from all of the debt collectors saying they will no longer chase for any extra money so hoping that side is sorted.  The other problem I am guessing is universal credits will be affected, but who knows.  It shouldn't take me over the savings threshold, but I am guessing it still may count as income.  Would be nice to put in the emergency pot in case boiler goes bang or the car needs replacing.  I guess its not a bad problem to have wondering about a chunk of money I didn't have yesterday.  Really wish I didn't need to rely on UC as they don't allow me to save, but I cant get by at the moment without them.  Sister said to find a job so I can replace them, but I would need a full time job at a good wage (not really any available in area that i can do) and its just not possible for me at the moment as I need childcare during holidays (I know plenty of people are in the same situation so I shouldn't moan).  OH would never take time off work to look after them that I do know so its up to me.  Oneday!

Ok so I contacted my DMP company and they say I should be fine.  Also contacted UC and a nice man called Dave has said that it would be treated as capital and as long as I don't go over the £6k savings threshold I do not need to even tell them I have it.  Glad I asked the question and have it in writing on my journal on UC account.  So its all positive.  I in theory have around £2500 extra money as soon as it clears. Yay.
Also friends mum has had her pacemaker fitted and is already awake and texting her so looking very hopeful.  Really happy for her.  Its a good day.

Wow! That's brilliant. Well done for checking with everyone! With divorce on the cards keep it to one side and keep it quiet. It's none of his business.
You don't know that you could have got it yourself. I tried to claim PPI for my mum and got told to do one. She went through one of those companies and they got her the money. Don't feel stupid for losing the £900. You're still £2500 up. Definitely a win.
New boiler is tempting but you don't want to boost the value of the house at the mo.

    Keep going! X

That’s good news about the PPI claim. I’m still waiting to hear about a claim I submitted in mid August last year, so this gives me hope!

Thank you to you both.  I will be squirreling it away until after divorce and financial settlement have been signed and agree that is for sure.  He is no longer going to benefit from me looking after the finances.  Anyway although the debts were mainly his they were mostly in my name so my money.  HoneySuckleLou, I had forgotten about it to be honest.  At the beginning there were a lot of text messages especially as there were separate ones for each different loan/card etc, but not heard from them for many months.  This is from all of the HSBC ones, so you never know they might be successful in getting more from others.  Hopefully you will hear about yours soon to.  My sensible voice says put it away for a rainy day, whilst over the day the little devil on my other shoulder has been saying take the kids on a nice holiday lol.  I don't think I could spend that much on a holiday especially when I know we have enjoyed much much cheaper holidays lol.  The one thing I do need to get sorted is driving longer distances.  I have little confidence due to my dizzy spells, but would love to get in the car and go visit my sister or uncle who are miles and miles away.  OH used to drive us everywhere and I think he is thinking I will still NEED him for that.  Would love to prove him wrong, like I have with the toilet DIY (I am still smiling everytime I flush it and it still doesn't leak lol).
Looking at the online summary it looks like he is still to sign and send back paperwork for divorce.  I really don't know what is stopping him as he doesn't want me anymore.  Will get them to chase him up soon.

    Hi,
I have just read the last few pages of your diary. Well done with the PPI payout I recieved mine yesterday, but only £650!
My friend is on UC and has been saving with a goverment scheme. This is the website address. https://www.gov.uk/get-help-savings-low-income I think Martin Lewis was talking/posting about this a few months ago. So it might help you save.
Hope you don't mind me posting.

    How payments work

You can save between £1 and £50 each calendar month. You do not have to pay money in every month.

You can pay money into your Help to Save account by debit card, standing order or bank transfer.

You can pay in as many times as you like, but the most you can pay in each calendar month is £50. For example, if you have saved £50 by 8 January you will not be able to pay in again until 1 February.

You can only withdraw money from your Help to Save account to your bank account.
