Kind words pah! It's the truth. You're great for working in a nursery. Just the right job for you! Term time hours and creativity and organisation for kids. Perfect for you. Plus bring all your unwanted craft stuff into work and be called helpful! Mwhaha

On the mortgage. I'm hoping you're not still on interest only because it's criminal (as you already know better than me). If you were to pay the mortgage off in 8 years it's about £1000 a month so you can leave the mortgage as it is and overpay the difference? I have no idea what your payments are or your pay so don't think I'm being cheeky.

Loving the homemade costume pride bless him. They are way better! Don't know if you know but there are pens specially for dyspraxic people which might help and also some dyslexics benefit from coloured overlays. They are cheap and help me enormously. The way it works is you know how black makes a room look smaller and white bigger? That's what happens to the words, they distort so using a colour keeps them still. I like pink best but yellow works best for most people I think. Anyway super cheap to buy and may help for his sats.

    Keep it up xxx

Well good morning. I am now a working mum and have managed my first week. Although this week hasn't been like any previous jobs I have had where I have been office based it has certainly had some variety. I am in a nursery setting and although I am admin when there are trips out I am there to make up numbers. Yesterday we went to the forest! Was fun, hot, scary as I had 2 children that were not my own to make sure I returned happy and alive! Its different when they are your own. I will get used to it. We are doing this again next week too.

Think I did pretty well organising things and the only thing we forgot was a music instrument yesterday which I didn't even think about until I picked DS up from school. Not bad I think for my first week.

Plans today are to sort the house. My bedroom looks terrible and I intend to pack up whatever clothes in my wardrobe that don't fit as there are lots and I cant see what I do have. This sudden heat wave caught me out and I don't have much to put on. Many of last years summer bits were so over worn they were not fit for another year so they were disposed of leaving me with a very winter wardrobe.

Got several accounty bits to sort too before next week so need to get those done before the weekend is out as I have been worn out after work. I am also starving I have noticed. I obviously have spent the past 11 years grazing on food - my clothes tell me this is the case too! Anyway I got home the first day and was sooo hungry as I had stuck to breakfast and lunch. Might drop a few pounds working too - bonus.

Ok need to get off computer and actually work though this list. Have a great weekend people :)

Hi everyone. Working 4 days a week plus bing a mum wife a volunteer for lots of groups doenst leave me with much energy or time to relax but I am coping. I enjoy work but also enjoy the weekends and day off too.

I have managed to put £945 over to the mortgage in the past 3 months which I am happy about. Hope to do a little more soon once things have calmed down. Either way it is better than I have managed in the past :)

Potential bad news. Got a letter from boss today saying that the other branch of the business is closing down at the end of the term. All staff have been told they can keep their jobs if they want them but hours may be reduced for us all. My problem is there is me and another girl doing the admin. I am still on probation. I have a feeling as she knows the job inside and out and has been with them for a while I will not have a job by the end of my probation as there just isn't enough to keep us both in work. I will miss the money but enjoy a little more free time but have enjoyed getting back into work.

I know nothing is finalised and the news is very new so anything could happen, but at least I know this time I may have to go (previous 2 redundancies I have had no clue!)

Think I am going to speak with the boss and the other lady tomorrow when she is in. It is clear to me that she could take over the job as I haven't been taught everything I am supposed to be doing as yet. It seems a waste of peoples time to be teaching me when the end result is to see me leaving in a month or so time. I have plenty I can be doing at home. Was my day off and I had to stay home to wait for gas man (who never turned up arghhhhh) but it was good to be home clearing up and getting bits done that I haven't had the time for. I am not going to resign but I want to know from the start if I am needed. If not I will work my notice I think. I need to know one way or the other

Hi everyone, I have decided I need to come back here and write it all down as I have been getting a little slack recently, as we are not living payday to payday as much.

I am still in my job but have had my hours dropped to 3 days a week now rather than the 4. I read the contract as I hadn't been asked or warned and yes she can do that. Oh well I have been getting more done at home since this happened.

Our next big news is that our house is on the market. We have a house that we really want but with the government not knowing what's going on at the moment not many people are wanting to buy - at least that's what we assume is happening as our house is reasonably priced looking at others in the area. The house we like needed some work, but they have been on the market longer than us now and are now doing it up. We really want this one but are getting scared it might go before ours has sold. We have been looking at what is the lowest price we could accept to still afford the move in the hope of drawing more people in - bit of a balancing act. Have managed to pay off quite a bit off the mortgage in the past year so that's a bonus. Since our annual review has come though I have been putting the extra into my isa so it can earn interest and then I will either put it towards the mortgage in dec as it doesn't affect the payments until then, or it can go towards our moving fees / new carpets.

Have looked at the budget and done the shopping online this week in an effort to cut back and get back on track. Hubby has been giving me the housekeeping each week even when it looked like he might have to tighten his belt a little. He tried to give up smoking but then something happened and that was that. I think he wants to though, so at least he has that on his side.

And as you know I like my organising for the summer hols lol. I printed out the calendar for this year ready to fill bits and pieces in. So far the 2 older ones are off to camp for a week (through their youth club - and its free). We also have a trail around one of the local big towns looking for elephants, so another activity to add onto the list.

Lots going on and lots to look forward to.

    Hope you are all wellx

Good evening. The food budget is going well so far and today I have been placing another online order to be delivered at my new usual slot of a Friday evening. I have also made so heart biscuits ready for lunches tomorrow - well it is valentines day. I now need to order some more baking bits as lots of it has been used up.

When going through my voucher folder I came across a raffle prize that I had forgotten about which was good timing. It is 4 tickets to the local cinema - so we are now going during the half term to see the Lego 2 movie which the children are happy with. Have got some popcorn and a few sweets still hanging about from Christmas that we can take with us. I also had a couple of amazon vouchers that I got for my bday. I have now redeemed these so when I do buy items online the money will already be there, rather than me thinking to put it on before I press the button.

We also have a voucher for the local mini golf that we won, so if the weather is nice next week we may take a trip there for a bit of fresh air before the golf starts again at the end of the month.

Not booking anything else in as I am very aware that half term just flies by and before we know it, it will be Sunday evening and we will be getting ready for school and work again. Already got dentist and opticians booked in on 2 of the days.

Mortgage man still hasn't got back to me with answers to my questions so sat in limbo re the house. Really need an answer so we can get things going - would so love to be in new house by the summer holidays.
