Nope, all it does is reset the file

have you tried uninstalling zonealarm? (Id recommend it, if purely just because its cr*p)

  • You don't have Parental Control active or Content Advisor running, do you?

control panel - network & internet - internet options - content - parental controls

    OR

Do you have control of the internet connection? If you're using eg Halls of Residence wifi, some places block high-bandwidth sites like YouTube.

Yes I've thought about uninstalling zonealarm a few times, I tried comodo but couldnt get on with it and I had heard that windows firewall is not as safe with win xp as it is with win 7 so I stuck with zone alarm until I ever get a new computer

I was searching on the web yesterday for sollutions to this and there are a lot of people with the same issue so its not just me

I just found something on the net saying that it worked for some people by editing the hosts file by adding a line then adding a # in front of it but as I've never had any experience of changing the hosts file I'm a bit nervous about doing that and if it didnt work is it easily undone? It seems a bit complicated to me

    Possible cause/solutionfrom a google search

Using IE, go to Tools, Manage addons. Under "Show"(very light text)on left side

Look in All addons or Run Without Permission for Shockwave Flash Object. Is it Installed, Enabled and what version is it?

In my experience, the XP firewall is as good as any of the free alternatives and is a lot less prone to compatibility issues.

You could ditch ZA and try outpost free - http://majorgeeks.com/Outpost_Firewall_Free_d1056.html

    It's rated 4.48 out of 5 , ZA is rated 3.46/5

Unless you require full control over incoming and outgoing connections (Very unlikely) windows firewall is fine - id certainly use it over zonealarm anyways

Thing is though if I have tried it when turning zonealarm off already is it likely to make any difference?
    Thanx
