Videos in youtube will not play

For over a year now youtube videos will not play on any browsers, I have tried uninstalling old versions of adobe flash before updating to newest version but it does not work.

All I get is black screen with white download circle spinning round endlessly in the middle but nothing downloads or plays

I'm on win xp explorer 8, firefox and also downloaded chrome yesterday to see if that would work but its still the same.

I use spybot to immunise but do not use ad blockers, I have zone alarm free, avast free and use superantispyware, malwarebytes, quick start up and ccleaner

Videos play on other websites and bbc iplayer or itv catchup etc but not youtube
Thanx

I'd guess that ZoneAlarm is the culprit, but it could be AVG. Do YouTube videos work if they are linked to from another site? For instance, can you click play on the "Last Broadcast" on this page:
    http://www.thesoundcarriers.com/main.html

Try temporarily disabling ZoneAlarm and see if that makes any difference. I've been using Comodo's firewall for the last few years so can't give any more detailed instructions on how to do it.

Thanks, I just tried playing the last broadcast video from your link and it would not play, nothing from youtube works no matter where its linked from, even from google.

I also closed down zonealarm for a while and tried to play videos from youtube too and this also did not work
    Thanx

    Try This

Should work, if not Uninstall ZoneAlarm, what I beleive ZA does is it scans anything you download before access is given to play it. However for YouTube this isn't exactly fair or needed.
But certainly try the link firs.t

Uninstalling adobe normally doesnt completely remove it. You need to run the full uninstall program as posted above

Personally I cant see it making a difference as usually either IE wont wor or FIREFOX wont work, if BOTH dont work then it doesnt point to adobe to me

    Hosts -
Spybot writes to the hosts file to block webpages etc

    to reset it -
    Download HostsXpert
    http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/Hoster-Download-27041.html
and then follow the below steps.
    * Unzip HostsXpert.zip
    * It will create a folder named HostsXpert in whatever folder you extract it to.
    * Run HostsXpert.exe by double clicking on it.
    * click the Make Writeable? button.
    * click Restore Microsoft's Hosts File and then click OK.
    * Click the X to exit the program
