Have a lovely, lovely time. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0 -

Hey up chaps - we got home a day early (combination of midges/wet tent/need for a very comfy bed!)
Hope you're all good - cheri I loved your imagery - add in a bed headed dog, a windswept girl who'd been up since 4.30am and a very unusually on time handsome devil of a Monseuir in a very red sports car - you've got it in one
(If you're interested.....we opted for camping and cheap accomodation in leui of nice food..................) We did over the top of scotland from Thurso to Durness, down to Achmelvich bay (picnic and a paddle), down a bit and over to Lochinver (ice cream), down a bit and over to Achiltibuie (paddling, camped overnight looking toward the summer isles, had a magnificent seafood tea in the local pub, yum!), beautiful sunset, hosing it down by 7am - quick pack up and over and down to Ullapool after a drenching from packing tent up (picnic brekkie in forest), over and left a bit more to the famous Applecross road which was the purpose of the trip really for the chap to drive his car over that road especially! A bit of a very indulgent yummy seafood lunch at the Applecross Inn, tea and cake and a dander at the plants and garden at the Applecross walled garden and then a meandre back through Torridan mountains, (a breif stay at the Bates Motel/Backpackers - the holiday spot of every midge in scotland, or so it seemed, very dodgy cheap backpackers but nice food in the posh pub) then up towards Bonar Bridge brekkie in Mr T, then a bit of a look at Falls of shein water fall and then through the mountains in the middle. A wee cuppa in the Kyle of Tongue (with the most depressed cafe owner on the planet) and back to the ferry, dander around charity shops in Thurso, beach walk of mutt and a ferry home.
Phew!
Didn't spend much on accomodation and had picnicy meals inbetween very posh ones. Thankfully keiss gave me some anti midge stuff she had, we don't really get midges here until late in the season and not at the rate they have them in the scottish highlands - thank goodness and thank you keiss!
A bit themed moneysaving, but not hugely - although we spend our £'s on the things we knew we'd enjoy. Took camping brekkie stuff, bowls/cutlery etc and those sachets of sugar/coffee etc that we tend to save up. apart from petrol (Mr F got that) we shared the other expenses quite nicely adding upto a couple of ridiculusly nice meals and two nights away at £14 for camping and £28 for very interesting and 'rustic' backpackers
Today, day off, working tomorrow - off for a scamp and a catch up later onlinefloppy day me thinks
Tent drying on the line, very typical of a scottish holiday!
Banks to check for damage etc Paid £100 to one CC and same to other, under both O/d's but not by that much, looking a bit eeksome but OK ish.
Greying parcel arrived here - thank youx
