Hey guys, you're right I'm not sure how to be except race around.
Kc the money stuff is very looming. I'm 3 or 4 miles from the ring of brogar. It's in the middle of the west mainland where I live.
Wik um no never got it backso I need too
xx hello!
I was hoping I'm part time lord - blast.
I think most of issue is my life is a mess, and I've found the time to survey it again, not the humans and the really important stuff, they are wonderful, just the physical life bit, money a mess, house a mess and I'm only half unpacked etc garden just soul destroying (living here is like being on a permanent garden diet - most of it you can't have) when I get head space for it (like finishing phd stuff) realisation dawns again. I love living here but digging up destroyed plants, looking at soil which is blasted beyond reality makes me wonder why I'm trying, then again I love gardening. Simples eh?
I need a list o put myself back on kilterTotal debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.

Sorry to be late on parade, silly MSE wouldn't let me in for two whole days
And then I stupidly thought you guys had been very quiet
Then I checked my subscribed threads and found:

So here I am to join in with the next instalment of the exciting life in Stripeyland:D. So I seem to have missed a fair amount in the last few days.
Seems summer travel plans are under way, Pippi is feeling down and a bit lost now the thesis is done but is getting back in to life with gardening, family life, sorting the house, bargainous shopping and the odd treat but money is still scary but she has plans afoot for the patchwork income which include the polytunnel, Uni has turned in to the recipe guru (sounded yummy), LT has had a bit of a fright (glad Dad is OK), Darwin has turned in to a nesting box, Basils are being grown and shorn at regular intervals, Trog needs hugs but going to investigate why, Keiss has a new Lappie, recipe & plant swapping going on, gardening advice being sought and how on earth do you accidentally take up a carpet????? :rotfl:
Sure I have missed loads in my summary. Off to subscibe, I love it here :j Proud Member of Mike's Mob :j0 -
Stripes, I sort of know how you feel re the garden. I promised myself this year I'd keep on top of mine but once again its got away. Its so weedy I don't know where to start and we are a bit like the cobblers children, in that OH mends and sells lawnmowers, I haven't got one!!!!!! I keep waiting till he's mended one and giving it a test drive and at the moment with everything else going on things are mounting up. I've had a friend come round who said she'd give me a hand (I would pay her) but she hasn't materialised.
So, what I'm trying to say in my rambling, roundabout fashion is to may be concentrate on a small piece rather than the whole and I too could prctice what I'm preaching. On another note started planting my wellies yesterday.

I think you're amazing - my diary in a paragraph!:A
Well done at reading all that lot, but thinking we'd gone quiet!!!! Oh dear :rotfl:re the carpet OH just told me good job - go for it and to please promise on my plants life NOT make a door from the sunny room to the garden :eek:(I'd talked about investigating land lord with one from our dining room to the garden)
Lucielle - good advice there - I thought about it all last night - I need to tackle it all bit by bit you're right. If I were nearer I'd come and help with your mowing! But, the petrol cost would kill us both! YAY to wellie planting!!!!
Issues here.
House is pigsty - of epic proportions - its becoming some kind of eco-system soon we'll have wild boar and squirrels here - we've already got starlings in darwin (the new mummy nesting box)
Bathroom manky beginning to be very damp and septic tank needs sorted (I'm hoping these are two different issues) CLEANED
Upstairs loo needs a clean but its the size of a well, a small loo - so that won't be bad - except there are 8 toothbrushes in there and only 3 of us? Do we have ghosties?
Kitchen is dark and revolting - the darkness helps to hide the revoltingness which is more depressing
The whole house is covered in books and dvds everywhere I've still not bought any book cases
Ulility room - recycling central - the tin cans and the glass jars etc are taking over - and the laundry
Halls - can't even go there - like an assault course all cupboards full of moving in boxes and some silly mare took up a carpet - lol
spare room is full - I can't get in there and OH's mum might be coming up next week for two weeks there are two beds in there too (cheery will remember) and the wardrobe/under bed is full of carp
DD room OK but needing a major clear out - we've a new desk for her which is outside the back door - no idea how to get it in yet - its quite big.
Ds room is filling up with carp nicely - he's had exams - he needs to let go a bomb in there
My room - clothes to sort out and more storage to organise - theres a wardrobe parked by one door downstairs which can move upstairs but it will be difficult - stairs very narrow!
The sunny room needs a hoover but tbh of all the rooms it aint bad
Living room needs a tidy - debooked (see above about book cases) and a move around and the tomatos need staked - all 20 of them :rotfl:
OH office is not bad and also NOT my department
Thats the house. I'll do an outdoor list in a mo - at least its written down - I'm normally a tidy-the-whole-house-up at once - but I think this is a room by room job
Tea in hand - thank you Lucielle - its in a right BOURACH (pronounced - boooooo- richt - silent t)
bourach
(boor·ach) Dialect, chiefly Scot ~n.
1. small hill or mound.
2. disorganized heap or mass (as in “Last went and it turned intae a right bourach“).
3. a crowd or group of people.
4. a small, humble house.
5. a muddle; mess; state of confusion (often in “That room o’ yours is a total bourach. Get in there an’ get it tidied!“).
All five apply here I think. Apol for moaning - given me a talking too!
Next up come my life bleurgh bit (I don't feel like me) but that can wait for a mo - more tea needed.

I can sort of understand why you are moaning about the house but hang on a mo........ You have been working like a mad thing to sort out your thesis to make sure you hit the deadline so something had to give.
So give yourself a break
It will be sorted but it will take time. Can you not bribe some children to help out a bit so that it gets done a bit quicker?
Very glad I did my summary before that mega post :rotfl::j Proud Member of Mike's Mob :j0 -
Morning Pip and Chums.
I had a couple of very long days in work so missed reading. Just caught up and bloomin Nora, you lot cant half yak. Loved Maty's summary thanks.
Pippi. I agree with Maty, something has to give. Too long have women believed that womens lib has meant that they have to be superwoman. We dont! it is about being equal (either with men or your kids) and having the ability to do stuff like the studies. So the house is not all of your responsibility. Kids rooms - for them to sort. You are bringing up some really fantastic kids there and I am sure that they will take their responsibility on. You just need to stop feeling like you have to do all!
Now there is nothing wrong with having a good moan about the house. What you need to do though is put it all back into perspective once you have it off your chest. That is what we are here for - to help that perspective. So, why not spend 5 minutes writing down all of the things that you love about where you live too (be that the house or the location or both). I completely understand re the garden. I am still struggling with ours. I have no strength or energy to do the digging that needs done. Mr C has done it so many times and not had chance to progress to the next stage before it goes wild again that he has lost heart. This time of year sends me potty as I just want to be able to go out and potter (I am fairly good at pottering). Right now we have no money whatsoever to pay the men to come to do the next stage and I am so down about it all. Still at least I live in a fantastic place so I can head out tot he beach or the forest when I want outdoor time. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0 -
You're all right!
Kids will do thier own rooms anyway so thats not a biggie
Its the reality of the post thesis carnage - very clear today -moved wardrobe from back door - found a large rodent nest - minus the rodent thankfully - disinfected that - just illustrates the point i guess
I know I'm not superwoman - its just scary how much things have slipped.
Onwards
Lucielle - me - overweight - clothes not fitting - don't exercise - eat too much - hoping that the post thesis life is more active. Just don't feel like me any more - dd took a photo yesterday and I looked like my mother (well not a greek looking black haired olive skinned woman - ie which is what my mum looks like (e.g the image of nana mascori)) but a bun up gingerish haired version with freckles and no make up. When did I stop trying to make myself look presentable? Very scary, I'm bad at chucking on jeans and a huge jumper/fleece as its easy for work and life. But being 2ft 2 I look like a barrel - doesn't help I'm heavy at the moment.
Hair needs chopping its way down my back now and no money for a haircut immenient. Don't know if they do student days ? But also going to hair dresser more like going to the dentist for me I hate it epically. Might just trim it myself.
Cheri - thats a good plan - I love living here but theres so much to do to make it livable - then we'll be moving (2-3 years we're off the island) I'm happy to put the effort in - but then I'll be leaving yet another house - OH doesn't want to live here - long term I'm not sure its great for me - although I love it so -which makes no sense.
Maty thank you - I can bribe children for lift etc - and I promise I'll give myself a break.
I've looked into yoga classes again - £4.30 each - and a drive into town which is about a fiver - I might try and combine it with when in town and maybe use my bike more to get exercise.
Progress - thank you all - cheri I'll get to that list.Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
