Pippi - don't be to hard on yourself - with no legitimate reason, we down in Greying Towers have got muddles (good word Keiss!) on top of our bourach! It's one heck of a bourach state at the best of times and to make matters worse, we're trying to insulate the loft. Of course, the loft hatch opens out into the (biggest) bedroom and the removal of the old fibreglass nasty thin insulation, along side 100+ years of dust (or so it seemed to DP!) meant leaving bedding, beds etc in that room was not an option. Hence we're up to our eyeballs in bourach and muddles!

Yep, its bound to happen that way ... sigh ....
Naturally, it's not just a case of stuffing fresh insulation in the neatly cleared loft, as we've now discovered a problem with at least one of the ceiling joists that will need repairing.....sigh. Plus of course, we have brought more 'stuff' into the house as some insulation was on special offer at h*mebase, so we grabbed it ...............sigh. I suppose it is just as well the salesperson refused to sell us as much as we needed, due to it being 'not accessible at this moment in time' (?) otherwise we'd have to move out into the tent on the local playing field!!!!! (shed already fit to bursting).

Okay, the joist thing sounds awful! Or at the very least, scary
Now, have I sensibly stayed in this morning, cleaning, tidying, polishing and organising? Have I 'eck, I've swanned off with DP and gathered 10 blooming big bags of horses 'leavings' for the garden!:rotfl:

At least the tomatoes will love me!
Hurray:j:j:j That sounds ... mucky :rotfl:.... but fun!
Hope you have a great time at the garden event.

    Greying

ps - am I niggled with the h*mebase chap - too right, the pooter said they had 134 rolls in store (we didn't need that many) and we'd gone to the trouble of borrowing (at no cost, but still...) a van to move as much as we needed in one go!
I bet you're niggled with him! How on earth can he refuse to sell? Unless he knows that the computer is lying, or some of its reserved/paid for or something. I know when I had a Saturday job at Comet, nobody really trusted the stock levels on the computer, but I would've thought things had improved since then

Hope you can manage to find somewhere to sleep!

exactly what i was thinking Maty!!!! I'd never confuse it with fun.

Pippi, i know where you're coming from with the messy house being soul destroying, you've certainly heard me complain enough about our place, i'm gonna give my chicken timer an outing and start the 15min thing. I know i tidied the bathroom in that time just before my parents visited, maybe i need them to visit everyday.

Looking and sounding like your Mum? I got a shock a few months ago when i saw a picture of me on the website when we were out and about. I thought it was my Mum. I then immediately decided that I HAD to find the money to get my hair done and I did. The next photo of me on the website people said I looked 10 years younger but more importantly I saw me not my Mum. As for sounding like her............ hmmmm I do try hard not to.

Tips then for not looking like your Mum...... I would say keep having photos taken of you because I hadnt had any done for several years and I do believe that seeing a photo is far better than just looking in the mirror.

    Hi all
Nature is scary when it does that growing thing isn't. The only thing I've managed to do in the garden in the last month is mow the lawn. I swore I wouldn't let it get away from me this year but then I had my eye operation, Mum's been in Hospital (lump removal) Dad' been to Hopital (eye), work done on kitchen, large section of fence replaced by the housing Assoc who own the neighbouring property and as neither my Dad or I are allowed to drive due to our respective sight problems I seem to have spent an enormous amount of time either shopping in instalments, visiting or on the Bus.
Normal service is slowly returning and I did get some cutting down done this morning so hope springs eternal.

Sorry to be late on parade, silly MSE wouldn't let me in for two whole days :(

And then I stupidly thought you guys had been very quiet :(

Then I checked my subscribed threads and found:
    A) Thesis is all done
    :T:j:T:j:T:j:T:j:T:j:T:j:T:j:T:j:T

    and

    B) You had all moved home without me

So here I am to join in with the next instalment of the exciting life in Stripeyland:D. So I seem to have missed a fair amount in the last few days.

Seems summer travel plans are under way, Pippi is feeling down and a bit lost now the thesis is done but is getting back in to life with gardening, family life, sorting the house, bargainous shopping and the odd treat but money is still scary but she has plans afoot for the patchwork income which include the polytunnel, Uni has turned in to the recipe guru (sounded yummy), LT has had a bit of a fright (glad Dad is OK), Darwin has turned in to a nesting box, Basils are being grown and shorn at regular intervals, Trog needs hugs but going to investigate why, Keiss has a new Lappie, recipe & plant swapping going on, gardening advice being sought and how on earth do you accidentally take up a carpet????? :rotfl:

Sure I have missed loads in my summary. Off to subscibe, I love it here

Ditto - wondered why everything was so quiet.
Excuse the whining. It's my diary and I'll be silly if I want too?

    Xx

Its your diary and you can cry/shout/moan/rave if you want to.

Honestly though, you've done loads, and make me feel ashamed.

Looking like your mother? Visiting my Mum in hospital the other day everybody could tell we were related and kept saying 'sister?' Now while thats probably a complement to Mum at 75, I'm not sure it works the other way :rotfl:

That's a brilliant plan Wik! After all, if Darwin has taken in lodgers at just the time you wanted to be able to get about in him, the least he can do is let you move some stuff in as well! :D

Muddles here too - amazing how having worked three days on the bounce full-time last week has let everything slip...I guess I need to be aware that when I have less time to throw at keeping it tidy, we need to be a bit tidier in ourselves.....

Just caught the end of a documentary about Murray Walker on the TV - they've taken him to a track with some sort of Formula 3 event going on, and he's commentating as though he's never been away! What a phenomenal star! Talking of documentaries the one on Thursday about the Duke of Edinburgh looks like it wil be well worth watching - I must set a record for that.

Stripes take a bit of time to just curl up and read a book, or sort through your seeds, so something in the next week - you've worked so hard and tirelessly getting the thesis finished, you can't keep going at the same pace now, nor do you need to. All that will happen in the end os that everything will catch you up and you'll collapse in a heap which won't help anyone!

Love it! think my estate would be quite a good propagator! :rotfl:

Well it was a very soggy (at times torrential) afternoon at the open garden event I helped out at. The plant stall I was "manning" was under a tree, but the rain still got through. Thankfully my big waterproof hat and coat kept me dry, though I was feeling a bit chilled by the end.

We did very well, considering how few folk came through the gates, and sold well over 2/3rds of the many plants we had to sell. I only came back with one crate of plants - I took 3! :o Then when I went to collect the box my brownies had gone in, I got half of them back (we had enough cakes to start a tea shop!!!), and most of a fruit cake as well! :D

It's such a shame the first proper day-time rain for months had to happen today...hey hoh, such is life!

Stilll, it was good to be about other gardeners and talking about plants again...I really miss it...think it's what I really should be doing...somehow, somewhere (oooh, I feel a song coming on...and it's not "Singing in the rain"!! :rotfl:).

Right, off to finish a form I need to comelete and send to my boss in order to qualify for some profit-related pay payment (first year and tomorrow is the closing date for applications...not that she told me......no, I will not get cross with her again...I will not!)

Have a great evening all.....the rain has at last stopped here ...typical!
