  • Morning all - good luck with the phonecall Keiss, I don't think that's an unreasonable amount for a full knitted outfit by a craftswoman! :)

Can see all sides re the money thing Pippi, important to build relationships and use opportunities like getting your flowers out in the cafe, but also to decide where to draw a line so nobody takes advantage. Greying's idea about the label/ logo is really good too.

    good luck Keiss

Pippi I have to agree with the comments others have made re charging. It's totally acceptable to say "well as it's an experiment then I'll only charge you X" then if - when it works you can up the price. they'll be used to paying you by that point too so it won't be such a culture shock for them

    hope everyone is well

Morning Pippi. Lots of exciting things happening there for you. As I mentioned yesterday I am currently reading Duncan Bannatyne's How to be smart with money and would you believe that I just read the chapter about charging in business. He was talking about times when it is smarter to take the jobs that pay less or you charge less for the time as it will bring greater rewards down the line. Interestingly he never said to do it for free :), I won't add to what others have said because I agree with them all. You just need to value yourself too. After all, you are setting up a business and even if you charge charge cost price for the flowers (you have paid for the seeds and put some time into nurturing them) whilst being clear that this is an experiment you will do fine. After all, you wouldn't expect them to give you sandwiches to provide at your gardening class for free you would, at least, expect to pay for the bread and ingredients. With regards the guru, exchanging services and time with each other is, in fact equivalent to payments and a good investment as long as you both are equal in what you exchange. Good for you for lining everything up for longer term.

Keiss, I hope that the phone call goes well.

Working, just finished a two hour teleconference and my ears are ringing so off for a cuppa.

Then again.. if you've given them free flowers in exchange for advertising/ getting interest in your flowers, they might do something similar in exchange, e.g. provide a bit of catering for an event if you give them a "food provided by X cafe" type plug...?

Exactly Red, you read my mind because I meant to write that and forgot!
