Pippi, sorry quick post as I just had an idea. Do you have Womens Institutes or the like on the Island? If so they are always looking for speakers to come in and they do pay fees if you are interested.
right off to chauffer Mr C to work, catch up later.

Oh thats true! And there's loads of organisations like that - The Gas Federation used to do it (I think they died :) ), U3A, Town Associations, all sorts of people. If you can get on the lecture circuit, its really positive.

I'm so glad you've got your polytunnel frame up, Pippi! Just off to bring my brekkie to the computer, and I'll read your blog then :)

good work on the polytunnel Pippi. Sounds like you've made good progress. Oh dear hope Mr F is not too sick and is feeling better soon.

Today I plan on making green tomato chutney as I have loads of green tomatoes that need used. Also got given a load of cooking apples so will make a crumble too I think. So baking and tidying for me today I think. DD has a friend coming over from nursery so that'll keep her occupied this evening for a bit then a family weekend off where all 3 of us are off (that very rarely happens although should happen more now i've finished work) so need to decide what we are going to do

Any excess energy would be gratefully received ;)
