Woohoo! The polytunnel works are well under way now Pipster, I would help but........errr, I'd be carp at it!

Just watching Meals on Wheels, inspiring but also lump in the throat making. Makes me glad I grew up with various grand and great-grandparents in the same village and saw them every day, for meals and chats.

In good news - got £20 reimbursement for something tonight, yay, I'm in the money :) and have another £5 to come in next week. Just wish DD's sodding silly daddy would pay in his maintenance, grrrr. As he's not contacted me in 5 months, I'm reluctant to break the silence and risk either being ignored or getting something nasty back by texting to ask when I might expect the money, but on the other hand, I NEED the money desperately *sigh*

three magic initials CSA and getting them involved. You will be amazed (if he has something to hide) how quickly (if he has any sense) he will come through with the money, and the back pay too. worked a treat with my step sister!

Unfortunately he has previous where they're concerned......when the mother of his other children got them involved, he stopped paying a bean, then by the time the claim was processed, he was over £1k behind with payments, which he was then allowed to pay back at £10/month!! Holy moly.......

Also, I don't know where he lives, and am not even sure where he works. I guess I should just text him tomorrow and say pay up or the CSA gets a call. Hate confrontation :(

KK, if it still works the same way as it did when I was a youngster (which admittedly it might not) - your benefit (it was income support in those days, no idea what the equivalent is!) if you get it will be reduced by the amount you're *supposed* to get in maintenance (ours was £20 a week). However, when Silly Daddies don't pay that, benefits don't pay it either, and Mummy ends up short...

However, if Silly Daddy outright refused to pay (or landed up paying £10 a month or whatever), the equivalent benefit would be increased to reflect that.

One of the great tragedies of my childhood for my poor mother, having to deal with such an unreliable income (she did our week's food shopping for £8, so you can imagine the difference £20 made...).

Poor you having to sort it all out though :(:( Deep breaths xx

(morning pippi! Bet you're up and beavering away already! :) )

KK, my OH's ex stopped paying too until she finally owed £22000. She timed the payments to start only a few months before OH's youngest's 16 birthday. Then when she got sent away the payments stopped all together. Turns out OH ex now has a baby after abandoning 3 children. ....wonder how long it'll take her to dump this one!
CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J
  • Morning! Gorgeous morning here today. Going to try and achieve my resolution to get on my bike today - failed spectacularly the past two days by leaving it so late there wasn't enough time and had to drive. Today is going to be tight as well though as the school have conveniently arranged a meeting for parents in the afternoon! Grrrrrrrr

Fantastic progress on the tunnel Pippi, very impressed!
Sorry about your Silly Daddy troubles KK, hope something gets sorted. You need to come up with a cunning plan to make your fortune (or at least a comfortable income) so you can tell him to get lost! Hmm, what can we think of....?
  • Morning all

about to read back - Trog - it aint nice here - 50mph wind and rain battering the window!

I hope you get on your bike today :) I think I'll leave mine in the byre!!!

Right cuppa and a new plan for the day - I aint going out in that....................

Chev right you know - I had to go through csa to get mine sorted - I had the help of oneparentfamiliesscotland - which isn't relevent for you but gingerbread are - and they have good fact sheets but no one can do anything to help you unless you contact the csa.............................

I'd bypass your ex if you can - and get onto them, or use the csa as a leverage lady.

I'd come and help if I could I AM GOOD at this stuff - I've fought long and hard for a long time

OK, my ex went abroad............................but when he was in the UK it did work to pursue it that way:A

If you need an ear/etc I'll help where I can

You're not whining, your not unentitled = you're looking after your child - if it was her, alone with a child and an ex who wouldn't pay up - would you let her try and muddle through herself? No, you'd make sure you fought her corner.

You shouldn't have to 'manage', he's responsible too, I'd make him aware of that pronto and then if he's still a twonk, I'd get in touch with csa.

    Thus endeth the lecture.

    (sorry)

It'll be great once its finished. Pippi, (not sure if this would work but...) I noticed that along the Clyde Valley (when I was heading to the victorian fair last weekend), there are at least 17 garden centres between A71 just before Garrion (the first one is Brown's nursery) to New Lanark Mill. There were about half of these where there are green houses in disrepair and polytunnels unused, some had for sale signs up for the equipment. Would it be worth googling these places and seeing what's for sale?

Thank you I don't need much in way of stuff - just a cover - I can make my benches etc out of recycled stuff but I really appreciate the thought :) and I will have a look, thank you :A

Great going with the polytunnel Pip. Do you mind me asking how much a cover would cost? Uni's idea is a good one and I am sure that there will be creative ways of getting that cover sooner.

:j£276+vat+delivery :jthe flowers will provide I'm sure :A
<sticks hand in air as willing victim> :D (although we might not make it back within the next month or two! :p)

    Well concreted - I'm impressed! :T :T :T

It might be a while, you're on my reserve list :)

Trog thank you for the sunshine....................................
