I'm glad you've got some good weather for a change, Pippi, how nice - it really does affect mood, doesn't it! Hope it stays with you for a while.

That link is brilliant - thank you so much :)

ETA - Pippi, food *has* gone up, absolutely, as well as hearing the rates on the news, I've noticed it on many of the items I actually stick in my shopping basket.

we've obviously swapped weather with you Pippi. It's awful here. Wellies and waterproof coat job. Which is fine for DD and DH but my coat does not do up anymore and I'm not buying a new winter coat in August *stamps foot* DD was a little worried that her baby brother would get wet. I assured her that he would not get wet from the rain. Would he even notice swimming around in there???

Northern lights pic was amazing. How often do you see them?? DH and I looked into going to Iceland pre DD to go to see them but it was so expensive we changed our minds. Might be cheaper to holiday in N. Scotland instead.

kc sunshine certainly affects me alot! That's why i've been so grumpy!

Starnac, northern lights, hmm goes in fits and starts, normally more common in winter, but the do happen regularly more than often and you couldn't guarantee seeing them.

Welcome to northern light chase here anytime!

How funny starnac that your daughter was worried her brother would get wet :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

:j to paid work pippi, and fingers crossed to silly daddy paying up for trip :D I reckon food has gone up too - we've gone on a concerted effort to do one big food shop rather than nipping to the shops every 5 minutes - makes huge amounts of difference (although I'm sure in general you're far more careful than we are!)

    Last day at work today :j :j :j :j :j
    Very exciting :D
Pah to missing northern lights, but :j :j to sunshine! P*ssing down here again today :o Keep hold of that sunshine til we get there! :D

Hya Pippi, glad the sun has come out for you :j...hiding here today and a bit wet.

Thanks for the info re carrots...you're right, will root out my leafy veg seed instead and see what I have. Glad to report the alchemilla is thriving in the fish box...and there is a calendula about to flower in there too!! :D

Going to meet the craft-centre lady next Monday to discuss what computer work she wants me to do, so it looks like I will actually have some work! Was holding off really believing that she meant it, after all, she had only met me for abut half an hour before she offered me a job!! Still not getting too excited (well, just a little bit :D) until I see what exactly she wants me to do.

Right off to do some planning, cutting and sewing today...arms still aching after yesterday's weeding...soooo unfit!! Started to clear out the conservatory yesterday, so need to do some more there today, but sewing this morning. :j

Enjoy your day everyone...sunny/dry or not.

PS thank for the A-B link...still a bit cross about missing it...haven't seen one for a few years now. They are one of the reasons I might manage to persuade DH to move to Orkney!!!

Yuk to peeing down, yay to NL and we'll see what silly daddy says to it, I've a contingency plan, which you're part of :D and food, yup, set my budget at £200, but my popping in spends often although only little, are often - I need to get into a good habit and realise the fridge and freezers don't need to be full to bursting incase of a famine :rotfl:

Yay on both counts, although by the sounds of the plans - I'll be gone by the time you all arrive :(

Keiss well done on the work, the plants being OK and the fish box arriving intact :) don't do too much!

Hello All, back properly trying to get things back on track. Funeral was yesterday. My boss has been brilliant, am working from home today. Am very tired and still quite teary.

Hope everyone on here is ok, and hasn't been affected by the riots.

    Ooh, that sounds great Cheery!!

I have always wanted to return to live there (lived in Kirkwall from '62 to '67 as a child). Lots of Mum's family still live there, but even if they didn't, I would want to move back.

Even got asked about doing some knitting for one of the shops I was in, but couldn't as I needed to be living in Orkney...so that's me sorted work-wise when we move there! :D

DH has moaned about the weather being so bad a lot of the time..but he has to admit, there are loads of compensations. He is a keen astronomer and photographer, so given clear nights every so often he would be sooo happy!! I have quizzed him about it, asking him just how serious he is...and...he is! !! :j:j

Just hope he still thinks this way when we are ready to move in a few years time. :)
