Where exactly do you stand legally if you scrap a car that doesn't belong to you then? I know you'll reply by saying 'it was on my property' but surely it doesn't follow that you can legally scrap another person's car?

Surely you could end up in court for scrapping another person's car and liable for the cost of the vehicle regardless of their vehicle being parked on your property or not?

If as I said you put a notice on the vehicle STATING that unless it is moved within 14 days then you can do what the hell you like with it
and yes it is still poss to scrap a vehicle without the docs

You can do what you want, but he can still take you to court.

Is it the 20th of this month that is the date after which vehicles have to be insured or SORNed? That's an imperative if nothing more.

Have you thought about stepping into his shoes here for a moment......... probably not, he's a friend and if one of mine went through this and I considered them a true friend then this minor inconvenience would not bother me, for one second..... perhaps you need to look at yourselves...

i think the OP and the OH have done enoguh for the guy, they offered the spare room, fed the guy, let him put his car on the drive as it was broken thinking the guy would either get it moved or have it fixed asap as a kind gesture for being offered a spare room to stay in

No, but they can have him for parking an uninsured vehicle, and twoc.
I don't mind, it's down to the op tp take your advice or not.

Is there an offence of parking an uninsured vehicle?

TWOC, is the offence of taking without the owners consent, but his car has been abandoned on private property, so I can't see how that would stand up.

Surely the local council has a way to deal with abandoned cars where the OP lives? They certainly do where I live.

They will be charged with aggravated movement of a motor vehicle, obstruction of a parking space and breach of the kerbside :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: they will get time for it

And so they should, life is not long enough, mm, the arrogance wanting to use their own parking space, lol.

I know its disgusting, and if he does take the OP to court he'll probably be awarded compensation because the letter they sent him was sent using a 1st class stamp instead of recorded delivery and the ink was in black instead of blue. Along with the fact they only gave him 71 hours and 59 minutes notice instead of the legal required 72 hours......:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

OP play it safe and just sell your house stating it has a car on the drive that can't be moved because everyone has rights, clearly if you house is worth 200k you should only expect 125k:j
