UPDATED AND EDITED TO ADD: I AM EATING MY WORDS ONE BY ONE .... RAGE BLINDS RATIONALITY! ANGER MANAGEMENT IS NEEDED. ROYAL MAIL DO A FINE JOB ......
Paid for special delivery for a very large item. £25 postage!
Delivery hours are between 08.00 and 13.00, so I walked the dog at 07.00 to be sure to be home by 08.00 just in case!
... got home at 07.50 and the red docket had already been stuffed through my door with a time of 08.06 written on it!!!
Flipping unbelievable. Now I have to drive into town, take MORE time off and pick up a massive box.... and it says I can only even go get it in 48 hours. Because they LIE on their delivery form!!
Resent those £25 now ... any chance of getting it back?

Royal Mail are a bunch of liars and cheats to be honest.
i sent a package to FRANCE worth quite a bit on the 4th May. Luckily its got compensation and tracking but when I checked its status is said its been passed for delivery in the UNITED STATES!
After many emails and calls to their liars in customer service they promised me it would be on the next flight back to France but its still sitting in the US as I type.
Seems the morons working for royal mail have no clue where countries are or how to re-route a parcel.
I have to wait until the 9th June to even start a claim!!!All hail the Jack Daniels Swozzler!:beer:0 -
Dunx , wow that's terrible. At least mine's in the right country ... they just can't read the time. My rage isn't helped by the fact that there's no parking near the sorting office and I have a bad back AND I can't really take more time off work. So I'm half a day down in wages and then have to break myself to lug the monster box back up a HILL to the nearest car park.
And you know what, I wouldn't even have minded so much if the time on the docket was correct. I'd have thought Oh Well, Missed it ... but LYING about the time to make it look like I wasn't home when I was drives me nuts!0 -
I though the rules for next day special delivery were delivery before 13.00 - where did you see the reference for not before 08.00?0
-
You can go online & re-organise delivery for tomorrow to save you a trip. I've never heard of the 8am thing either.0
-
special delivery = before 1300, no mention of the earliest it can be delivered.
No chance at all of you being refunded because they tried to deliver before 1300 as per the service.
Sorry
Could you clarify where you saw it stating a delivery from time?0 -

rms USO delivery hours start at 7am
where did you get 8 from?0 -
Wonder if the OP will take it all back if it transpires that they might have made a mistake with what times they thought RM would be delivering between?0
-
The OP is back!
08.00 to 13.00 was the time given to me by the seller on Ebay when they messaged me to say when I should expect delivery! I didn't realise this was not Royal Mail's info but something they seem to have been told incorrectly when they posted the parcel.
And Royal Mail have been lovely! They told me the delivery had no start time, which by then I had already understood (had forgotten about this thread until looking through my recent posts however - must have been amnesic with rage!). However as I left a message on the sorting office answer phone BEFORE the time written on the docket thus evidencing that the time was written incorrectly, they have sent me a few packs of first class stamps as a gesture of goodwill. Which I appreciate ....
So a little red-faced, but not too much!!0 -

Not bad for a 'bunch of liars and cheats' (to use Dunx69's charming description)."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -

Very true, but those were not my words!
I did admit from the start than I was venting and raging and I do think it's bad form to write a wrong time on the docket.
That said, I also would have been happy to slink off into the shadows after realising my own error of understanding about the delivery time, hence appreciating that my complaint was nevertheless taken seriously.0
