the card was timed at 1130 - so it was before 1300?
I would like to say that I'm disgruntled with your accusation of most postal workers being lazy johnnyboyrebel.
It is true that there are a minority of folk who do not do the job correctly, but to say most is incredibly unfair.
If I have packets for customers I will knock the door, several times, stand and fill out the red card, knock the door before putting it thourgh. I stand and endorse the packet with the time, date, reason for not delivering etc and then move on.
The number of customers who then complain that I did not try to deliver or even have the item on me is unbelievable.
Trust me, Special Delivery items are not left in the office because people can't be bothered with them. If you can't deliver it, you have to take it back to your office and get is scanned back in, or pass it to a Post Office and get them to scan an officially take ownership of it. The nonsense you spout about folk leaving them is just that - nonsense.
Show me proof that it happens.
You want to come down to Battersea - I've an open complaint down here. Three special deliveries this year when I've been in and heard the post drop - raced to the door and seen a red card. Opened the door and the postman is still in the street...and tells me he was given it by someone else because they couldn't deliver it.
It's a Victorian house with a very loud and reliable mechanical doorbell that can be clearly heard in the back garden.
The last time I had enough, got hold of two local numbers and the manager came round a few hours later, very sheepish and apologetic. I've lived here for ten years and it's rife, happens several times a year.
Last night I got a call from someone a few streets away - they had a signed for letter - which had been opened - in their mailbox, but they hadn't signed for it. I still have the red card for this at home. She kindly dropped it off this morning.
I know the majority of you are honest and hard working, but you're being seriously undermined by a minority.0 -
If they have to fill in the time on cards, then it doesn't take a genius for them to have a watch or access to a clock does it?
Why would they come to my door without the parcel? :rotfl::rotfl:
It's happened before to me, and to people on here plenty of times.
Maybe because they can't be bothered carrying around the parcels with them and would rather us go and collect them.
All I asked was, "why lie?", that's it!
Why do some of them lie on the cards about what time they have called when it's a load of nonsense?
It's you who chose to make a meal out of it.
Yes, but why would the Postie even bother coming to your door at all if he doesn't have the parcel with him? What about customers that stand there waiting at the door, he is going to come unstuck if he's left it at the sort.I've had plenty of parcels delivered and never once has the person delivering not had my parcel with them as it makes no sense whatsoever.Too easy to get caught out and a waste of time for all involved.
No, it doesn't take a genius to wear a watch, nor does it need one to realise that maybe not everyone does and sometimes people make mistakes. In the grand scheme of things its totally insignificant.0 -
stan5001 - thank you. I do understand that there are areas where the service is poor, I understand that there are bad eggs in our company, but I thank you for being correct in saying it's a minority.0

I work in banking, and we have our fair share if charlatans! What's needed is discipline and just desserts. We need banks and a universal delivery system. If only we treated bankers as we do RM...0 -
Ignore the bankers and RM employees (after all, in the overall picture its only a few of them that are causing any trouble), and start with the MPs and MEPs.
Get all of them to act in a reasonably honest way and half of the country's and Europe's problems would soon be sorted out.0 -
so if I say I used to be in banking, you'll understand completely where I'm coming from!0
