Presumably, RM use a bit of common sense and do residential special deliveries first - which would tend to be beneficial for anyone who has to leave their dwelling unattended when they go to work - and areas with a concentration of commercial addresses later - since the SD service would be pretty useless if they tried to deliver to businesses at 7:00am.

Very true, but those were not my words!
I did admit from the start than I was venting and raging and I do think it's bad form to write a wrong time on the docket.

That said, I also would have been happy to slink off into the shadows after realising my own error of understanding about the delivery time, hence appreciating that my complaint was nevertheless taken seriously.

Loving the edit of the OP! 'RAGE BLINDS RATIONALITY'. Great line :D :T

whilst businesses are often lft till later
the days of residential deliveries in the early AM are fast disappearing
park & loop will/does render that type of delivery redundant

Someone should tell our local post office about that, then.

Parcels and SD usually come around 7:30!

well for starters the Post Office doesn't deliver anything
    as I said
    park & loop will/does
so until you have your revision in the area it will still be under the older delivery models

I might have know some pedantic git would pick up on that.

I really don't care what the people who deliver the post are calling themselves this week. ;)

Anyone with half a brain knows what you mean when you talk about 'post office' deliveries.

Well they completely f**ked up deliveries round our way for a couple of weeks a few months ago while they did some sort of reorganisation.

Nothing has changed. Not that I have any particular complaint about the Royal Mail (happy? rolleyes.gif). It does what it can for a service that is, sadly, on its way out.

Why do some RM delivery guys lie about the times they have called?

I waited in till 12 one day for a delivery, it hadn't come so I went out.

Got back home, saw the red slip and thought typical!

Looked at the time on it and it said they had called at 11.30am.

    Why lie??!

well you will have to make that distinction(why not just stick with GPO?)
given the Post Office will be a completely separate entity soon

or they just misjudged the time?
If you are out and you have been out for a couple of hours its easy to misjudge the time
does it matter? you weren't home

How can they misjudge the time? They only need to look at their watch/clock.

They wrote AM on the parcel and they didn't come till PM so wasn't even a case of writing the wrong digit down.

It does matter because they have lied.

They didn't come at 11.30am as if they did, I would have been in to receive the parcel.

That's if they even had the parcel with them in the first place.

Why do you have to stick up for them just because you used to work for the same company?

Whoever it was is a liar, so you are condoning that. Nice.
