I got some panty liners from Weenotions and think they're great but I have just one small niggly problem with them, it's as though the wings are too big so they don't wrap round my knicker crotch properly. They tend to bunch up at the front and back and I get a wedgie :D I've thought about maybe cutting a bit off the wings or maybe trying to make my own but don't know if I'm good enough at sewing. Has anyone else had a problem with them bunching up and not lying flat?

This is why i dont like wings!

Ive got 2 minx pads already (and cant wait for next af to try them out;) ) and waiting for 3 un-winged pads to arrive from the us. The great thing about the minx pads, i can cut the wings off if i want, so huge thanks to zippy who suggested those to me. :T The fabric just feels gorgeous too.

All interesting here, because I'm sick of having to dispose of tampons etc that either clog the loo or just add to the rubbish bin, so I will try this suggestion. Luckily my periods are usually not that heavy. :)

i think you're right best to move swiftly on - i just never knew such things existed! and on a big night out i'd be out from like 6pm to 3 or 4am - that would be at least 3 changes! i couldn't wait until i got home!

Could you use washables at home and then go back to disposables when you go out? Best of both worlds and all of that? :-) Hope that helps :-)

Has anyone tried these for post-partum bleeding at all? I've used reusables for a couple of years now, and they're great (I wouldn't go back!) - but am about to have my first baby in June, and for some reason never considered used my reusables until today.

I'm just wary as I have no idea how heavy post-partum bleeding is likely to be...

Oooh Fritha, good to see another FR-er on here! =o)

Just to point out that you're not meant to flush sanitary items down the loo! http://www.bagandbin.org/

I was chatting to a friend of mine the other day about weather you could get reusable pads!
    This has answered the question.
I really want to get some of these as i have always had probs with this "area" ie have now been on for just over 4 weeks and go through a pack of pads every day  dread to think how much waste that is and how much its cost me aswell...gotta hospital gyno appointment in the next 3 weeks so hopefully they'll sort me out!

    Anyway moving on...

Ive looked on weenotions and want to order some pads from there but im not sure what i need to get

it says its £3.50 for the fairy hammocks..does that include everything you need to use them like the outer holder bit and the insidey bit?
Sorry if that seems thick :o but i dont want to order that then find out i needed other bits to use them.
    Thanks for any advice :)

I use peeweez, they are fantastic and fold in on themselves with their little popper.

The fairy hammocks are just one piece with poppers on the reverse, there is no holder. I find these much more pleasant and easy to use than the pads and holders

I can recommend weenotions; the product is great and good customer service - if you have any problem or questions they are very pleasant and helpful.

Hope your problem gets sorted quickly for you.

Edited to add - the fairy hammocks also fold in on themselves and popper shut if you have to change when you are away from home.
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

Disposable nappies are NOT comparable to washables environmentally. The studies done have been extremely flawed. The washables were washed at 90 which is entirely unnecessary, they were tumble tried - again mostly unnecessary and they were even ironed. I can't imagine why! And only a handful of washable nappy users were in the studies compared to thousands of disposable users. Further, they only took one baby into account when many (most) washable nappy users use the nappies for more than one child or pass them on to someone else.

Washable sanitary protection is also better for the environment, more comfortable and causes less irritation and infection. If you need to change it when you're out, it can be folded in on itself to make a little purse which is perfectly clean on the outside, and put into a small bag inside your handbag. (I use the peeweez ones which do this with a little popper.)

If you don't like it fine. Everyone's different. But it IS better for the environment and our pockets as are washable nappies (which can be shoved all in the wash together.) Not that I've had to worry about that for a while when you include pregnancy and breastfeeding!
