I never understand why people take the time and effort to come on to a post that they obviously don't like the sound of and post something! I think they must have too much time on their hands!

I am a new mum and have just discovered washable nappies - currently using tots bots and pocket nappies. From this I have made what seems to be a natural progression onto reuseable sanpro. I have just ordered a set from weenotions and will be trialing them soon. :rotfl:

I must be desensitised to bodily fluid now as I really do not see the problem.
We all put items of clothes into the wash that get stained in one way or another, what is so bad about this? Would you throw out a top if you threw up on it or rinse it out and wash it, also if you had an accident and messed yourself would you throw away these garments?? If you would then you probably don't need this website becasue you obviously have money to throw away!

TBeckett100 is obviously not likely to bleed into HIS underwear unless HE suffers some sort of injury or ill heath, I do not believe HE is qualified to pass judgement on those of us who prefer to use washable sanitary products. What would he do if his gf decided to use them????

I'm a bit late joining this thread, but just wanted to say how much I love my san pro! It all started with a mooncup, then a few liners...and now I have quite a collection!

My favourites are Weenotions as you can have them custom made to suit your needs and there are organic options, Peeweez as they're funky and recycled, Bumbeano as they're pretty and work and some gorgeous hand dyed velour ones I bought off Hyena Cart.

I've set up a shop selling natural skincare and eco san pro, will be selling Mooncups later on too. Cloth pads feel so much better than disposable ones - which contain chemicals to draw the blood out of you, thus making period cramps even worse. And tampons absorb all fluid they come into contact with, including the good stuff, which damages your ph balance.

It's so much healthier to use cloth pads/mooncups, and cheaper too. But if you're a sad case like me, it can get addictive! Hyena cart has some of the most yummy looking pads ever, all hand made by WAHMs (Work At Home Mums) - I recently saw one with a cowboy on!

I've just ordered my first two from peeweez, going to try them out at night time before I decide whether to move onto daytime use.

If I like them I'll prob run my own up on the sewing machine.

I'm so pleased that this thread is still going!! To think that I was not all that sure if I should start it as I thought that I may get loads of "ooo, how gross" type comments (ok, I accept that there are a couple - one even from a bloke  - but they are few and far between the positive and helpful posts)

I am now sold on my reusables and would never, ever go back. I love my mooncup and have also invested in some pads from comfy bumfy to use at night / alongside the mooncup (possible TMI, but I sometimes have to use both in the first day or so as I can have quite a heavy loss)

I'm thrilled that this thread is still running and being bumped up, the more ladies that see it, the more may try them out. (although still rather bemused by a man joining in to make negative comments!)

Well, baby is here (she's just over a week old now), and washable sanpro is probably much kinder for post-partumness than the disposables!

Nope, I couldn't go back to disposables again either...and now I have the bucket system, so that's really handy!

ETA: and the nipper loves her tots bots/terry squares too!

I used terry squares for two of my three kids and with the last one I used my own wipes too. I have considered a Mooncup but with a tilted uterus and a cervix that has a mind of it's own where it'll sit I don't think I'd have much luck.

I have seen reusable pads mentioned before in places but I always assumed that they were on the very edge of reusable and very hippyish, this thread made me think again. I was very narrow minded about it and assumed the pads would look like disposable ones and didn't like the idea of washing white cotton with bloodstains on.

When I have some spare cash, in a week or two I hope, I'm going to order a few pads and give them a go.

A great thanks to all the info on here.

    Hi all,

I had to post in support of this thread, I have washable pads, in a basket in the wardrobe. It's about time I started using them again. I did notice I was quite irritated by the chemical laden pads last time around. Thanks for putting me into action again

for the record, washable pads aren't the domain of 'hippy types' or mums who have all day to do washing(!!) I'm a young professional, no kids, at work full time. I also care about what I do with my body & the envrionment. It's not as yucky as people think, no worse than washing your smalls & after all, it is a perfectly natural process...
This year, I will mainly be kicking some serious money saving butt! :D
