OK, the whole pad measurements are:
Length: 28cm
Width of pad: 8cm at back, going out to 26cm where the wings end.
Depth of centre of pad (thickest part): 5mm
There is no problem with them 'travelling', they stay in place very well. I don't find them very bulky, they are certainly nothing like the 'bricks' that I used to have to use when I started my periods, back in the 1980s! Libra, they were called....see, they were so awful I still remember the brand name! When I wear mine, I go out daily and run around after 5 kids - age 12 through to 5, I don't find them bulky and they certainly don't interfere with my day to day life. (The pads that is, I can't begin to tell you how much the kids have changed my day to day life)
Maybe fold a flannel or cut some fabric to 28 x 8 x 5cm to 'try out' the dimensions? Sounds a bit mad I know, but it may help to decide if they would be good for you?0 -
Ok I'm using my mooncup for the first time ever today.
I found it no problem to get it and it's comfy while in and doesn't leak. However, it's really hard to remove. I've done so twice now and it's soooooo hard. Once its out past a certain stage its easy enough but it's that first part of the removal is very difficult.
Also the first time I put it in, I must not have put it in far enough cos I trimmed the stem and think I must have done so too much cos the second time it was WAY more difficult to remove.
The difficulty of the removal is actually putting me off using it. Did anyone else have this problem??Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Yes I found the same as you but after practice, I found that it was more comfortable placed lower which does make it easier to remove. Also, with practice, it becomes easier to remove too.Any question, comment or opinion is not intended to be criticism of anyone else.2 Samuel 12:23 Romans 8:28 Psalm 30:5

Yep !! Me too - I cut off the whole of the stem and then panicked as I didn't seem to be able to catch a hold of it!!!!!!!!!
After much worrying TMI ALERT I squatted on the floor and pushed, the mooncup came down and I was able to grip it with finger and thumb and remove quite easily.
There is a knack but once you have it you will never look back - I have had mine for about a year now after reading about it on MSE and still have a few boxes of tampax and pads that I bought before the mooncup - might as well give them away as I won't ever use them now!
I swim, go on holiday, exercise and do everything without any worry of leaks etc and no pain or dryness anymore.
Persevere, its well worth it.0 -
I have to add that I just used mine for the first time this week - it's brilliant and I don't know why I didn't get one when I first heard about them (on here) - I guess I was just a bit cautious of spending the money in case it didn't work out. The first time I used it though I knew it was the right thing to do - so much more comfortable than tampons. Should have got one years ago! I find it quite easy to insert and remove - but then I have used a diaphragm for contraception for a while so it's not that different. Now my dilemma is - how do I broach the subject with my friends and get them to try one?? I'm so impressed I'm thinking of making some adverts and posting them on the toilet doors at work :rotfl:
Anyone else filled with missionarey zeal??0 -

This forum is really interesting, so sorry if it's somewhere within the thread, but I haven't seen anyone comment on how long the mooncups or the disposable ST's last. As my periods are so light and barely there, I'm not sure I would get the value unless they lasted over a year.If you aim for the moon if you miss at least you will land among the stars!0

I've been using my washable sanitary towels for 3 years now and they look like they'll last a few more years yet.0

fair enough! I'm on the hunt for some now- I hate putting so much plastic needlessly in the bin.
Although I just informed my boyfriend to leave the new bin which will be arriving in the bathroom alone :rolleyes:If you aim for the moon if you miss at least you will land among the stars!0 -
Mooncups will last years and years!
A very worthwhile investment!0
