Ewwww! is this thread for real? Am I the only one who nearly lost my dinner after reading this?
A thousand apologies if I sound ignorant but I would struggle with the idea of using reusable menses sanitaries let alone throw them in with my other wash.
Ughhhh! The reason people don't move right down inside the carriage is that there's nothing to hold onto when you're in the middle.0 -
lol i was thinking that - especially this part :
you can make them really funky by using colours or patterns
i mean, why would you want/need to, not as if you will see the patterns:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin0 -
Do you use disposable nappies? Its the same thing and much better.0

Mmm, and I bet you only put clean clothes in the wash as well???
So, are we supposed to bin our underwear when it's dirty?
How I see it, it's only the same thing. Unfortunately these days (...and I'm not even that old!) we are too seduced by the media and their wonderful ways of making us see these magical sanitary products that leave us feeling fresh and fantatsic and rollerblading down the streetyet in reality they are loaded with all sorts of chemicals and as many of the websites for re-usable sanitary towels will tell you, you can often have heavier periods from using commercial san. products because they have a wicking effect due to the absorbant gel chemical in them.

Re the implant, no thanks, I'd rather have periods that hormones pumped into my body!
Re washable pads, I think you would rinse them in cold water first in a bucket before washing them (I'll wait and see when they arrive and I start using them). I always rinsed the nappies in a bucket and chucked them in with the rest of the washing.0 -
I use both. When I"m home I use the washables but when out I use the bought variety & tampons. I find them a bit bulky and feel a bit self conscious in them to wear out. But at home they are great.
To wash, I found the easiest was to throw them at my feet when I'm in the shower. The water flow rinses eveything away. Then just before I get out I give them a good rubbing with the soap. I then wash them with a normal load but they are clean already. I wouldn't just throw them soiled into my normal wash. HTHDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -

No, my showers aren't boiling hot. Warmish. Washing in warm water is best anyway. If at anytime blood does stain. I'm talking about any blood stain here. Using salt generally cleans it off.Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0

I'm not convinced but I can understand how it would be more comfortable against the skin. However isn't it more likely to stain your underwear? At least most disposables have a leakproof lining and leakproof wings. The reason people don't move right down inside the carriage is that there's nothing to hold onto when you're in the middle.0
