Thanks to all the people who posted links to places to buy these. I just ordered six from peeweez as backup for my mooncup.
  • Helloooooo

Thank you ladies - you've filled me with renewed enthusiasm and a smattering of guilt. I bought my mooncup online last month and then made a mental excuse that I should finish up my tampon supply first...............etc etc.

I had this awful vision of trying to explain (in Spanish as I currently live in rural Spain) why there was a suction thing stuck up there in the first place. Tampons are still quite modern for these parts!

Soooo next period is nearly due and I work from home, so have no excuse at all. I'm going to go for it. Hurrah.

Thinking of trying out these little beauties as well http://moonrabbits.co.uk/
Has anyone bought from here yet?

Ooooh fabulous! I didn't know these existed, I'll definately be buying some.

I don't know why I think these are less eeuggh than mooncups, but I do. I'll tell you what is horrific though - most of the websites have pictures of babies on:eek: So I'm leaning toward buying from http://moonrabbits.co.uk/index.php?pr=How_To_Order as that has a cute fluffy bunny on instead :rotfl: (sorry all you mums - I'll love it once it can walk and talk:D )

  • Just been reading this thread and thought I'd add my thoughts.

I bought a mooncup a few years ago as I was worried about all the STs going in the landfill and after a while working it all out I use mine every month. I find it is so much better than anything else on the market and good for the environment too. It takes a bit of fiddling around to get used to it but my advice is to persevere and it will work out. It took me 6 weeks to get used to breastfeeding and then it was a breeze for the next 10 months. Some things are worth sticking out.

I cut the stem off completely and its more comfy now.

I say go for it, its great and has paid for itself many times over. :)

  • Don't they end up stained by not being rinsed in cold water first? I always understood that hot water fixes blood stains.
Ummmmmmm does it matter if they are stained?????
Nobody is going to see them! And guess what is going to get on them next month! Stains are just like dyes-not dirty!

  • hello sisters,
i have been reading this thread and thought i have to share some thoughts. Please dont think differently of me... Guys too(not that you should be reading this anyway :P )
I use Kotex Night time whether its first days or last of period.Im usually heavier on the first three days. The fact that I use thick night times-continiously is that because i like the fact theres something bulky there.
I could never use the cheap thin or branded norm/ultra day/thin etc ST.
I was wondering now if anyone could suggest the best washable ST for me. Id rather it bulky than thin as I always wear long tops anyway.
Ive never used a tampon ever either.
*hoping I was an anonymous poster now* :P
Assalamu alaikum. May Allahs blessings be upon you

I am a mooncupper but I did "treat" myself to some very fetching wee notions jumbo sized pads for after my baby was born. It was so lovely to have these nice jelly bean and blueberry patterned pads instead of paper and plastic things. Yes it was only me that saw them but they made me smile. Unless you count the time when the midwife felt my tummy then whipped my knickers forward to check my "loss"- she got the shock of her life to see blue and green swirls looking up at her!!

There are pads which are cotton or hemp or possibly bamboo, and the mooncup is made of silicon, it looks like a little egg cup but without the base.

I thought about buying the mooncup about a year ago and finally bought one a couple of days ago, and am already a convert. I think it was the '10,000 disposables in a lifetime' that finally got me. I just tried to picture that many disposables and it truly horrified me. Id already switched to non-applicators and this seemed like the next logical step. The TSS risk is something I was always a little nervous about too.

Its a bit wierd to get used to initially too, kind of freaky actually (I did this the first time  ), but I havent actually had to deal with it when im not at home yet so ill have to see how that goes not being close to a sink etc. I suspect ill be fine, although I still have some disposables which I will keep at work and a couple in the handbag etc in case of emergencies, however, I suspect I will give them away and try and convert other people while im doing it!

For £20, it will pay for itself in under a year and I can reclaim a bit of extra space in the bathroom :T . One happy customer here!
