Morning all, just getting my MSE fix before I have to go pick up my boss from the station for our meeting with the client-from-hell. I am not looking forward to it at all. She's incredibly 2-faced & changes her mind as often as she changes her knickers. But, we will smile sweetly & say "of course, whatever you want..."

DW turned up, I waited for OH to get home before plumbing it in ;) Got it plumbed in & wired in, opened it up & one of the trays had snapped off. Oh well, never mind can still use it, we'll get them to send us a replacement. Loaded it up, set it going & started to pull off the blue sticky film from the door which was hiding a large dent as well  Of course by this time the call centre was closed, so OH is ringing from work this morning.

Chicken muck up for tea tonight (already made) and hopefully my boss will be buying lunch :j

Glad you had a good time in NY gingin & well done to OH on getting the job.
Catowen you know those earrrings will turn up once you've bought a new pair
Well done on getting supply work VickyA, you'll be fine
hugs to those with sore joints & poorly children

    bye x

Morning everyone. Hope you are all happy AND WARM!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes I'm cold again. Feel a bit flat today got headache,am freezing and just cannot get on top of this pigsty. I feel totally snowed under. Today I am off to drs, going to do a bit of shopping at the market and then going to have a LARGE argument with the bank who paid two direct debits that we cancelled AND DID NOT PAY ONE THAT WE DID NOT CANCEL! GRRRR!! Thankfuly I have the proof in the form of a copy of our letter to the bank and also their printed confirmation. For tea am making a large pot of veg soup as I want to use up the stock in my freezer before I defrost the freezer(thank goodness for my steam cleaner makes it so quick) and some homemade bread.Have put my cinnamon in the oven for the first time this year so the house smells really nice.HUGE((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))) to everybody in need of them. I am going off to have another coffee in an attempt to get warm. All the furry gang are in and curled up asleep. DH off at his lovely new school(pity its only a maternity cover-its the best ever school he has worked at) and I am going to repeat over and over again I WILL DO BETTER...I WILL DO BETTER I WILL DO BETTER........................................Have a great WARM day everybody. Also I just want to say thank you to everybody for being so kind and making me feel so welcome. A XXXX

  • Good morning to all.

Have had a bad morning so far, arguments (several) with DD3 aged 9. Couldn't/wouldn't find her school shoes (says they are horrid), couldn't/wouldn't find her swimming kit (says it is dorkish) and then said she had no shoes to wear for the school disco tomorrow evening and the clothes have to be taken in today!!!! I found her some shoes, got out her swimming kit and stood over her while she put on her school shoes. She had her school fleece on inside out but said she didn't care so that is how she has gone to school. Left her at the school gate telling the back of her head "love you, have a nice day".

OH has been away and chose his moment to phone as I was trying to find the dog leads. He had them last and I can't find them so he got both barrels of my crossness!!!!

Now DS has got his loan of his new car, he wants to pick it up but I cannot find the docs for the car he has, I had them to tax it but now I cannot find them. Heaven knows where I have put them!

    Hugs to all.

  • Mrs A- Well done to your son! :T My DS1 has just turned 17 at the weekend and naturally he is talking about driving lessons. Gulp...

Anniestar - You're not alone in being freezing. Brrrrrrr! At least the sun has finally come out here and it's warming the lounge up. Going to get myself a :coffee: and warm up while I surf.

  • Hi everybody

Bit late into the office today thanks to what I call "tradesmen's timing" - why when you're told somebody will turn up at your house between two certain times do they always come just that tiny bit LATER, right as it's become inconvenient? Anyway, thanks to visit (finally :D) from BT contractor, I now have a functional phone line - I still have one small problem in that I don't possess a phone, but I'll sort that out today or tomorrow...

Re everybody meeting up in London, sorry to have confused everybody, for some reason I was looking at THIS year's diary which is why I was getting all my Sundays and Mondays mixed up :o

OK, let's pencil in SATURDAY 10th FEBRUARY, evening, and if enough people are interested, perhaps we can start a new thread about it so it doesn't get "lost" in the Daily Thread.

It's lovely to have all my saucepans at last, I can finally cook proper food, although I don't really have anywhere to PUT the saucepans - I need one of those floor-standing racks from Argos.

Plan for today is work till about 5:30 then go to Tesco's to do most of my Christmas food and drink shopping. My most convenient supermarket is Morrisons, but they don't seem to have a particularly good selection of Christmas provisions. Tesco is about the same distance away (a mile or so) but annoyingly there's no direct bus route from outside my block and I don't fancy dragging loads of heavy stuff home on more than one bus. A black cab home will cost roughly the same as a home delivery fee, so I think I'll do that.

((((Hugs)))) to anybody who needs them.

    Love Rzl xx

    morning all!

Thanks for all the birthday wishes yesterday - I had a lovely day, but stayed up far too late reading my new book (present from DD), so am a bit tired this morning! At w*** again, but WM and DW on before I left home, and I've got a SC beef casserole out of the freezer for dinner. I've got Thursday off - can't wait! :j

Plan for when I get home is to finish all the cards, finish the wrapping, and get ironing done. Or I may read my other new book :o

    hugs to all

  • Good Morning All

Cold but dry and sunny at the moment - perfect winter weather.

Am typing this whilst on the phone to the bank on hold so thought would multi-task!

Its my main admin day today and havnt really made a start as been held up with phonecalls but hopefully now can get my head down for a good couple of hours.

Housework wise have emptied dw & loaded wm cleaned kitchen and swished bathroom.

Best get on now - have a great day.
  • Morning all,

Blitterly cold in the wind here so took DD to school in the car so arrived back home in super fast time. :D

Nativity play this afternoon at school but before I settle down and watch the performance I'm helping to get the children organized and changed into their outfits.

Was informed on Sunday that next door have accepted an offer that was made last week so if all goes well we should be having new neighbours. Will need to re-arrange the washing lines as I doubt the new people will let me borrow theirs for my overspill.

Christmas decs & tree all up and looking festive and just 1 week left before the children break up from school so need to get cracking with the last of the wrapping pressies.

Happy birthday wishes to them I've missed and hugs for anyone who wants one.

    Keep safe & warm

Yay, I have started my first ever OS daily thread :j:j:j (watch some meanie has probably already started one )

Need to make DS packed lunch, he is mad for healthy food at the moment, so he has been having tuna, sweetcorn and lettuce wraps instead of sandwiches, not as fast to make as normal butties, but he loves them. Need to get a plan together for him actually, I got pulled aside after school afternoon by his teacher, apparently he wouldnt do his work because it was boring, she was very mad, she said if he was thick then she could help, but apparently he is very bright, and isnt bothering to apply himself, he had to spend all dinner time in the class room working, and the rest of the day up in Yr 6 (he is Yr2) So god knows what I can do.

Hope everyone had a good night, and has a good day to follow.

Hugs to all that need the and kisses for everyone because you're fab xxxx

    Take care x
    Hiya,
I too have a mountain of laundry and am busy avoiding it! Actually some is in the machine as I speak so it's doing itself. I'm still waiting for a machine that will fold & put away for me...
Re: your son, it sounds as though he is bored because he's not being stretched mentally. Am I right? Could his teacher offer an incentive such as 'When you've finished you can have free reading time/come and help me with this display etc.' ? I think a lot of bright kids get bored and it's such a shame. My youngest has been blessed with a teacher who specialised in Maths - she let a group of the more able kids rise to their own level and they loved it. Last year two of them got the highest level they can achieve in primary school with a year still to go and he and a few others were invited for 'top up' classes to the secondary school last month. It's been great - he says Maths isn't cool (because it's not cool to think it is!) but he asked for some books I had used for home educating one of his older siblings, and gave those a try. He can't do them all by any means but it gives him wider horizons to aim for.
Soooo... I think what I'm saying is I think your son's bored because it's too easy. Can you find anything to 'stretch' him?
BTW I can't do Maths - helping my kids is a bit of a laugh as I have to study beforehand, but I'm surprised what I learned.
Happy laundry folding... wonder if mine will go away if I leave it long enough?
