Oh dear - some employers are so delightfully stupid that it seems almost a crime to pull them up on it. But I am pleased to say that I can confirm that your previous employers appeared to have excellent eyesight - unless, of course, you are Jasper and not Ruth0

We will make sure that updates are posted.
Thank you SarEl. I always enjoy, and often learn from, your posts. I've been following this thread since the first post and think you have always been spot-on and incredibly helpful, not to mention generous with your time. I am sorry that you and the OP have been subjected to unwarranted insinuations and derogatory remarks.
I really feel for the young man and his mum (the OP). Please pass them my very best - in their present circumstances and for their future happiness.0 -
Of course I will do so. I am sure they will be happy to update you - but we may be in for a few weeks of it before the employer realises fully the hole they have backed themselves into.0

Hehe - only ONE of us has whiskers, a tail, and a little (don't tell him I said that) pinkle-winkle between their legs... which, I fervently hope, is a better description of Jasper-dog than my own, delicate, feminine self...!
To be honest, I'm glad that I'm a woman - despite the appalling prejudice I suffered in my former job (at a very famous and ancient educational establishment, no less...). I could never cope with the administration of all those downstairs-dangly-bits whenever I wanted to sit down...

Anticipation is half the thrill...
But, for the OP and her son's sake, I hope this dubious "pleasure" isn't too drawn out. 0 -
It was interesting to read in an earlier post that the OP's son's employers are something of an 'elite' establishment. What is it with them?!Of course I will do so. A former colleague at my previous job was in an equally-tough situation. Naturally, he was working-class. I won't go into details but, basically, his wife stitched him up good and proper and legged it with another fellow, which had a profoundly devastating effect on their teenaged daughter. Colleague obviously needed time-off, which he legitimately took, to assist his daughter in coming to terms with what had happened.
Cometh the end of the financial year; cometh the annual pay-rise (anyone remember those days?!". Colleague was called into his manager's office and was informed: "Everyone is getting the usual 4% rise this year - except you. You have caused us so much trouble this year with your compassionate and holiday leave that I am only giving you a 1% raise." Colleague duly consulted union. Union rep. timetabled meeting with employers. At this meeting, the union rep asked the gathered senior bods: "Do you honestly believe that you are so far above the law that you can do this?!"
Without hesitation, the unanimous reply came back: "Yes."
I'm saving it all up for my first novel... although no-one will EVER believe it's actually based in fact...

So what actually happened, did he get the 4% or not? Also can you take leave for a divorce, a few more details required please?
ThanksThe Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!
If I give you advice it is only a view and always always take professional advice before acting!!!

Thanks
Not sure about leave for the divorce - he took it as holiday within his permitted allowance, plus three days' sick leave for his own distress at his marriage break-up.
He didn't get the 4%. Just a written warning for having wasted the bosses' time and for raising the complaint in the first place. (I am not joking).
Thanks for your reply Googlewhacker (I like Dave Gorman too!). x0 -
Hi everyone, SarEl told me some of you had been asking after us, thank-you to those, its very much appreciated, so far nothing has been heard from them, but there is another meeting tomorrow, (today now) So I'll update sometime after tomorrow.
At the end of the last meeting, one of the committee said that he'd have to brush up on his 'industrial law' which my friend who is accompanying my son, corrected him to employment law, to which he replied, 'oh, well..... perhaps I better talk to a lawyer then', so we're not really sure what to expect tomorrow, but with SarEls help, we know what we have to do to prove my sons innocence in all this.
This is a really stressful thing to go through, We've never gone through anything like this, No one in my family has ever had any dealings with anything to do with the law, no court cases, or tribunals or anything, not even had a ticket for parking, so its been a real eye opener reading others stories, hearing what they've been through, knowing that this process is still in its early days and we have a long way to go yet.
SarEl has been great though, I cant express my appreciation enough.
Anyone know how far into this process that one is able to sleep, I'm shattered, but my mind just wont shut down. lolol.0 -
Good luck for today Booie.0
