Just a reminder that this is an open forum that anyone can read so please be very careful what you say and do on it. Plus, a reminder, that we ask forum users not to exchange personal details.
Thanks!

Very confused Andrea, I know your not answerable to anyone, but what has made you feel the need to write this.
SarEl has been incredibly professional, all I know of her, is her profession and her first name.
She has kindly offered help, which has been a godsend, it never occured to me to send the actual letter, with address headers and 'wot not' I was simply only ever going to send a draft, not because I dont trust her, but because I dont trust the WWW.
I very disappointed that someone who does so much good, like SarEl has done for myself and others, can be made to feel beaten down by you passing such an unneccessary comment, I have read lots of other threads, which can only be described as a public lynch mobbing, with mostly the same members posting nasty remarks, and nothing seems to get done about them, I've felt the need several time to contact the OP on PM rather than risk the same response from the trollish keyboard warriors that get away with it time and time again, and yet you chose this to dig at. It makes no sense.0 -
Booie, you know what its like, give someone a uniform and they just can't help themselves... ;-)0

OMG - Andrea IS GOD???
Mostly these one post quips from on high come after someone has complained, because as we can see from the writing in the clouds 'The forum is not moderated'. So someone complained about something.....and it looks like it was just after SarEl told a bully where to shove it.
Hmmmm...that's not how bullies operates is it? Complain when they are outed.
Hang on a minute...........:eek:If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -

Far fetched, I know, but it did seem to me like a sensible time for a reminder (not that SarEl would have needed it, but SOMEONE might just have jumped in).
Or........the employer guessing the employee which is not exactly far fetched - as it has happened - although without going into detail, that was my own fault.
We are all mainly adults on here although I can understand the need for some form of moderation without having to be treat like children, but that needs to be consistent right across the forum - rather than react when someone complains when they don't agree with what they see.
Posters like SarEl provides free and invaluable information and it would be disappointing if she discontinued her postings due to someone seemingly misinterprating intentions and contents of a thread. I have certainly learnt a lot from her postings as she gives an insight of interpretations of employment law to numerous workplace situations.
It seems the regular posters who only come on here to offend and mock (they know who they are - one in particular) seem to get away with veiled and direct abuse and insults on a regular basis.0 -

And that has been my point entirely, and the substance of my complaint to the site moderators. I have no problem with telling people a few home truths, and will do it myself where I think it is required. But what we have is people coming here to ask about maternity leave - not to be given an answer, but to be told that "it isn't surprising employers don't want to employ women because they get pregnant" and that asking for their legal rights is "a burden on the employer". Funny how men asking for their rights at work never get told they are a burden on their employer. We have people saying that they have allegedly been bullied at work, and bullying in the workplace is a very serious matter - but if they happen to mention that they work in the public sector they are ridiculed, with suggestions that they are simply weak (or weak-headed). Routine and repeated abuse of certain people and groups of people is dressed up in "the right to an opinion".
Bullying, statements bordering on (if not actually crossing into) unlawful discrimination, and personal abuse of people for no reason has become commonplace on this board, and there is a complete and utter lack of moderation of this. All this achieves is driving away genuine and honest people - if you were a first time poster here and browsed a few threads, would you be foolish enough to open yourself up to the way others are treated by asking a genuine and honest question about your rights at work or the problems you are having at work?0 -

I have to say that's exactly how I feel - I started browsing these threads in order to perhaps offer some free advice to people in need (although I can see SarEl you have clearly got that corner covered). I can't believe how many abusive posts there are on here.0 -
If there are abusive posts then they should be reported to the abuse team, if enough people reported these then it would get dealt with. The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!
If I give you advice it is only a view and always always take professional advice before acting!!!
4 people on the ignore list....Bliss!0 -

When I first started posting on here, as a 'newbie', my postings were irrelevant . Many 'established' posters certainly made me aware of my 'newbie' status.
Is it coincidence then that new posters now have an avatar that specifically requests posters be especially kind to newbies?
Posters should be courteous to all posters - irrespective of how many posts they have - although I understand it can be very very difficult at times and unfortunately, one occasionally does have to respond (not incite)accordingly.0 -
Perhaps Andrea's post could have been worded a little differently but it's clearly aimed at helping people to ensure they don't give personal information to any Tom, !!!!!! or Harriet that writes, or infers, 'Trust me, I'm a lawyer, doctor, dentist, undertaker etc'.
Abusive posts can be reported, personal dislike of individual posts and posters doesn't identify abuse..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)0 -
Unfortunately, many areas of this once great forum have been systematically eroded. Any time there's a new poster asking a question there is a core of long-time users with many thousand posts falling over each other, all clamouring to be the first to call 'troll'; as if there's some kind of kudos to be had. Which there isn't.
Quite frankly the Admin team seem oblivious to it, even though it's far more disruptive than any actual troll posters. the correct way to deal with a troll is to initially treat the question as legitimate, and if then becomes obvious, to ignore the thread.
Until then, I know I wouldn't post looking for advice on this forum simply because of the continual troll-hunt, which is, I have to say, is going to drive genuine people away.
How some people have managed to evade the attention of admins and moderators for, in some cases more than ten thousand posts, frankly astonishes, and saddens me. Being 'Deliciously Dedicated blah blah blah seems to mean that some people think that 'be nice' doesn't apply to them.
Sorry to derail your thread, Booie. I've read it with interest, and believe me when I read your and then SarEl's posts after the hearing, I was grinning like a cheshire cat. Am hoping you'll post the final outcome in due course. Best of luck. Not that you and your son will need any, by the looks of things
