OP - The claim that drinking a coffee is not that dangerous did make me laugh. In fact I laughed so hard, I decided I had to share it with my old workmate Dan. But sadly Dan died 2 years ago.............killed by a driver drinking a coke from Burger King.

So you've never changed a CD, retuned the radio, looked at the mrs while having a conversation whilst driving? Maybe turned round to give the kids a telling off? Really?

Get a grip people, it's easy to post sanctimonious crap on the internet as if you're the perfect driver.... take a good look at what you ALL do, day in day out!

nope never. If i had to i would find a safe place to pull over and do one of the above.

As for getting a grip, i think it's you that should.

So next time your drinking your frapomapochoco coffee, and driving with one hand... think of who would be blamed if an accident occured..

I don't think anyone is calling themselves a perfect driver...But what the general feeling is, a majority of the population aren't stupid enough to be drinking coffee driving at speeds of 90 mph.

Because those things are directly comparable with speeding at 90mph while drinking a hot up of coffee aren't they?

    Grow up.

I think they are bang on, I do drive at 90ish at times. I also drive at 30 in 30 zones.

On a long drive I can sit and eat, chat to the Mrs, look at the CD player, change the radio, plug in the MP3 player and choose an album, drink a coffee, in the old days light a cigarette.

All whilst, indicating that I'll be changing lanes, checking my blind spot, acknowledging considerate drivers, etc.

It amazes me, that other drivers can't drive from their home to the local Tesco without cutting up someone on the roundabout because they've not looked at the signs.

Quite frankly I'm stunned at how you can be so arrogant and insensitive as to post that after the horrific stories of lost friends and loved ones killed as a result of that very behaviour. You even sound proud when admitting to eating and drinking as if you are somehow something to be admired.

You disgust me that you proudly proclaim this in the light of the tragedies that some unfortunate posters have shared with us tonight.

Well done on your multi tasking skills.:T Sadly as you highlight "other drivers" are not as skilled as you.Lets hope one of them does not decide to cut you up outside Tesco while you're changing your cd, leaving your Mrs a widow, or leaving the children of the other driver fatherless just because you decided you had heard enough of Lady Gaga.

It amazes other drivers that you still have a license

Well it astounds me that many drivers still do not understand they are behind the wheel of a half a ton of metal which at speed can cause serious injury.

It would appear that many are not waking up to that fact.

The speed itself isn't a concern, in fact most traffic cops will quite happily let you do 85ish if the conditions allow and they can see for themselves that your speed isn't a direct danger to other road users.

However trying to eat or drink (especially a hot drink) while doing those sort of speeds is foolish to say the least.
Remember kids, it's the volts that jolt and the mills that kill.
