Something that has been bugging me for a while now.

Now That's What I Call Music Volumes 2 to 9 originally issued on vinyl and cassette but never been re-issued on CD format.
This is quite an annoying situation for collectors of this series. They did issue volume one a couple of years ago but have never followed it up by releasing volume 2 to 9. The record companies these days moan about weak CD sales yet they constantly sit on vaults of music that has never has a CD release. To make it worse the cassettes of the now series early volumes are now suffering from a degrading tape syndrome where the tape becomes sticky and won't play. All EMI tapes are suffering this. SO come on EMI re-issue these titles on CD.
If anybody reading this works fro EMI, please try pulling some strings:(:(

If you own the cassettes, I'm pretty sure you can download the albums very easily if you look on the net... technically legal too.

    Thanks for your reply
You are right, there are downloads available but they either contain the wrong versions of tracks or they have been taken from vinyl (badly).
I have compiled some of the albums myself from my own vast CD collection but there are some tracks that were unique versions for the now series and never been issued digitally. eg . Listen to your father by Feargal Sharkey..only on NOW 4 and vinyl single.
It's a collector thing for me to have official releases.:)

Thats why you should always buy vinyl and take good care of it.. Ive even got a few of the old TOTPs comps from the late 70s early 80s knocking about too. Cassette was such a bad medium.

the first one was a 25th anniversary special to commemorate the first NTWICM release, no real need or desire to re-issue them all on any serious level, given EMI's woes right now i'd suggest that's probably one of their brighter moves.

Err the record labels take a different view - there is no technically about it :)

The reason why it's not been re-released may well be a rights issue - the label may well have the MC and Vinyl rights but didn't obtain the CD rights when the CD later came along.

I could have sworn they released them all a few years back, I'm sure I almost bought Now 6 on cd (cos that was my first now on vinyl) I am puzzled now - was it all a dream???
edited to say I have just checked on google and would have been buying the US version! What a surprise that would have been! Don't the millenium editions cover all the originally listed songs?
