    Good morning all!

Up at a mad hour as I can feel a wee cold coming on.Woke up with a grumbly throat and a runny nose - grr!
Clocked up #7 yesterday and that was 5 in a row, so I'm well chuffed!
Today I will need to go for some food shopping, but I have a list and a strict budget this week. OH is painting the living room as the new suite is FINALLY arriving on Tues. This is the new one we ordered after the dog chewing saga before last Christmas. It has taken 6 mths to arrive instead of the 20 weeks they originally promised! Dont get me started about Ha£veys:mad:
Anyway, I'm looking forward to getting rid of the old shabby thing and the new one coming.
Other than that I have some decluttering to do ( two cabinets that are also going from the living room) and then it's feet up with a takeaway tonight!
    Have a lovely day everyone!:)

I’ve got number 6 today, so plodding along :)

    Well done SF!! :T:T
Won't be on much for a bit as laptop died this morning, not sure if it's fixable... had a really crap 24 hours, why does everything go wrong at once? Ended up with me stupidly bursting into tears at work :(

(((((((((((((((((big hugs)))))))))))) hope today is a better day for you x

Jinty - hope your cold doesn't come on too strong & you feel better soon!

:mad::mad: to the fact that yesterday wasn't one, it was another late one at work & tbh when i was finished i was so hungry & tired i gave in to a takeaway when i nipped to the late shop to fetch some milk, bit annoying, but strange to think there was a time when i would have a takeaway every weekend & think nothing of it, how times have changed eh?

Today won't be one either, need to grab some salad stuff for next weeks lunches, a box of hairdye & some pots & trellis for the garden (my peas are running riot & really need to climb a bit!) I have a list though I i WILL stick to it!! :D

    :hello:

    Happy Saturday NSDers xxx

    And I actually have a Saturday!!!:D

Sorry I haven't been in but I've been on late shifts and the manager has been in till 8 all week ( wonderful as she can match the hours she does with her personal life!!) and it's been really busy catching up from my leave and making sure I'm not behind for my rota'd weekend off, have tried to do a quick catch up but may have missed some bits :o

BDINI- I am in a union but it's not recognised at work, I did try to talk to the Chair of the Board but he wasn't very helpful. Mind you the chap who left is the one possibly taking it to the tribunal I'm supposed to be a witness in if it comes to it so maybe stuff will come out then?

Kerri and Jinty I hope you feel better soon, your remark about kitty making you feel like you mum when you were a teenager did make me laugh Kerri :rotfl:

And so did the thought of BMF's offspring wasting away in her pursuit of NSDs :rotfl:

Keiss- hope the interview went well

Wow Nivvatw!!! 7 in a row!!! well done :T:TAnd Jinty for 5 :T:T

Know how you feel about the takeaway BDINI, can't believe how much I used to waste (and it has had it's effect in the lbs as well as the £s :rotfl:trouble is it seems easier to get the NSDs and save £s than it is to lose the lbs)

Thanks all for the wishes about Lara, she had actually managed to shut herself in the bathroom somehow and from the white hairs all over the washing it looked like she had slept most of the day!! Mind you before I found her (cos I was looking in the garden not the house of course!!:o) I got the fright of my life as two fighting cats came crashing through the gap in the fence  I was so relieved that it wasn't her!!

I am actually cleaning !!!!!(<<<in red as this is such an unusual occurrence :o) I cannot believe how much of a slob I have become since I have been on shifts and doing overtime!! I have actually just thrown a couple of books away because the nearly inch thick layer of dust wouldn't come off  And as for cobwebs!!!! There must be a whole nation of spiders becoming homeless.......mind you Lara seems to be enjoying them coming out of corners as she tries to catch them as they scuttle off.......glad one of us is enjoying it LOL

Maybe the damp patch is a blessing in disguise as I'm sure I wouldn't be doing it if the maintainence man wasn't coming to look at it on Monday, I would quite happily slob out for the day instead.:rotfl:

As for NSDs......I have managed to get up to 6 :jI actually haven't spent anything since Monday which is four in a row :j, I am really chuffed about that and I am hoping to get one today but will check in with that later in case I have to get anything for this cleaning lark or end up maybe taking some stuff to the tip or something but the cleaning is making me feel quite good (despite being a shock to the system!!! and I have food etc in so shouldn't have to spend)

Found a couple of Orphan's tennis balls in the kitchen :( but Lara appears to be playing with one so it's ok :)

    See you all later xxx

Just dropping in for an afternoon catch up (me still in my jammies, how lazy is that?!)

big hugs psychopathbabble - hope today is a better day for you. Sometimes it all gets a bit much and a big cry is just needed xx

Jinty - hope your cold doesn't take hold. OH beginning to feel better thanks, think by the end of the weekend he'll be really on the mend.

Kath - lovely to see you on here. Glad Lara turned up ok :D Ahhhh, must have been a bit sad to find some of Orphans tennis balls, but nice that Lara is getting to enjoy them - bit like part of him still being with you xx

Well prob a NSD for me, I was going to pop into town and get those gardening bits, esp as it's a much drier day here today but the annual Carnival is on, plus the EDL are marching today so I expect the traffic will be a nightmare, parking will be a pain and I worry with the EDL about there might be trouble (town is normally v.trouble free overall) so I might just leave it until tomorrow, catch up with some more Extreme Couponing, Doctor Who and clear out my wardrobe.

    Afternoon all :hello:

I think we need a big group hug today 1sm100grouphug.gif

Bumping for any Newcomers joining us

Please can you to highlight your number of NSDs in a colour and in bold and preferrably LARGE so that I can see them easily when I whizz through the posts - any colour will do, though I am personally partial to PURPLE:D

Some helpful suggestions and ideas to follow below from our sponsor and godmother, BigMummaF :A
    NO SPEND CHALLENGE.

    1. Have a good, long think about what YOU want to include in your Spend & Excluded categories.
Some of us count everything from Direct Debits & school expenses, while others do not include things like essential Bills or emergency medical costs. If you plan what is or is not a Spend for you now, it will help you decide on a realistic Target.
    2. It is NOT a race!
We all have very different demands on our time & bank balance, so please do not think you have to buy everything on 1st January & make it last till 31st December! A few of us have been following this Challenge for a long...long...LONG time so have developed plans & ploys to help us along the way wink2.gif
    3. Most important of all, WE..DO..NOT..FAIL!
Sometimes we can't quite reach our Target, but that is fine :) Everyone knows how Life will try to trip us up, & that is when you will find us here to help you back on to your feet.

OK, an idea of how some of us do things.
    1. What you will or will not include as a 'Spend'.
Some people are doing other Challenges too, & don't include the money spent on those for this one.
Some will try to shop for other bits on the days their direct debits etc go out of their bank accounts; they're the real hard core of the bunch sport-smiley-003.gif & have been l-o-n-g time Nsders so don't panic :p
Some won't count those annoying last minute demands from school & collections as you can't plan for them in advance, likewise emergency prescriptions or visits to the vet :(
Personally speaking & providing I don't buy anything else, I don't count parking for hospital appointments.(..but then I usually do my shopping because I'm already out )
General thoughts on €bay sales is the buyer has paid P&P so no cost to you :D
    2. It takes Time to reach mega-numbers!
The First suggestion is the first, because a bit of planning will work wonders on your road to your Target. Have a look at Solvent's (aka Spoon:rotfl:) first posts each month for a hefty list of other Threads that may be of help. For example, there's a few giving ideas for packed lunches so you can avoid standing in the queue at the bakers for 45mins of your lunch hour! A good incentive to tweak your healthy eating & the pounds you save will show in your bank balance AND your waistline action-smiley-076.gif
It helps to have various 'money pots' for the different costs that happen like Scouts, dinner money, yoga, window cleaner etc etc. The idea is you "spend" all that money in one hit by....
let's say **putting the week's bus fares into the pretty coffee jar, Jo's tumble tots SIZE=2]Weds mornings[/SIZE in the cracked teapot & Ben's £1 coin for the gym locker SIZE=2]Friday lunch[/SIZE in the pocket of the changing bag, on Tuesdays every week when you've got some change from doing the food shop, so an already spendy day. At least four 'spending days' condensed into one ;) (**mine's jam jars for windows, milkman & a bit towards the bills!)
    3. Any day the money stays in your pocket is a bonus!
If you look at it as a day you beat the system, you can't help but :j so don't fret it--ENJOY! If nothing else in here, we do manage find something to make us smile :D

We have virtual outings to wonderful places that never cost us a bean :rotfl:New York, Edinburgh & Brighton have been a couple & Spoon usually pilots the Tardis but you can use your own transport; my personal favourite has been a sit-on lawn mower borrowed from the cricket club :D The only thing to be aware of is Hubert the donkey who is partial to anything remotely edible but is not yet house-trained :o

    And Remember;
there are no silly questions, so don't be afraid to ask us anything!
