I've been colouring my hair for the past 2-3 years, Cheryl, never having done it before, and it's really easy. The new colours are incredibly easy to use, just be careful not to get the mix on tiles and good towels. They wash off basins and baths with just cold water. I started off by using vaseline around the hairline and over my ears but you don't even need that nowadays, the colour doesn't permanently stain skin.

Make sure you follow the instructions carefully and do a skin test first and you'll be fine.

    Good luck
    x
    Thanks :)

Old towels are alreaady on stand-by (having had to sort my airing cupboard in order to get to the hot water isolator that needed replacing last week), and the test patch was set up yesterday and all OK so far :) According to the instructions it has to be left for 48 hours, so that means I can have a bash at colouring tomorrow night after work.....

My daughter said the bit she finds hardest is keeping it off her neck as it does stain there - but she uses really dark colours (latest is black), whereas mine's a blonde one so may not be quite as noticeable if it does. But I will need to be careful as I have to scrape my hair right up for work, which means my neck can't be hidden if it does !!!

hello all. haven't been on here for a while as I've been feeling a bit demoralised about the whole spending / not spending lark. Feels like an uphill struggle that just goes on and on and blooming on! :(

I've been quite good (apart from booking a holiday) and have clocked up 9 NSDs so far this month and am hoping to squeeze the last one in this week too. But I feel like I'm scrimping all the time and missing out on everything I want. Like, I've been good and not given into the temptation of a new phone as it's an expense I can do without at the moment, but can't help but feel it's short sighted as when I take out a new phone I can change my contract to half the monthly cost I'm on at the moment, so I'd break even in 10 months.

I tried to open a new bank account that pays interest so my bill money earns while it's waiting for the direct debits to come up, but it looks like the wrong kind has been set up and the helpdesk were useless. They just said to start paying money in and hopefully it'll update to the right sort then. And I applied for a balance transfer credit card so I wouldn't pay interest on the cost of the holiday over the next few months while I pay it off, but that's stuck in processing too. It just feels like I'm banging my head against a brick wall!!!

Sorry, rant over. :o Am putting my positive head back on now and wondering whether to make today or tomorrow that last NSD of the month. Also making mental note to come on here more often as you guys make me smile and remind me that it's worth chasing days when the dosh says in my pocket. :)

    Good Morning all:j,

Thanks to cw18, sillyblondie and wouldbequalitymoneysaver for the birthday wishes. My Birthday was actually on the 25th May, but as it was my 40th I decided to order a painting which I collected on Saturday. It was an extravagance:o, but you're only 40 once! I had an excellent birthday and drank wine pretty much the whole week!!
For those of you thinking of using hair dye for the first time, please follow the manufacturers advice regarding using a patch test (place a small amount of dye behind the ear & on a small area of skin at least 48 hours before use) as I've witnessed some pretty unpleasant allergic reactions.

  • Hello lovely NSD'ers :)

I didn't manage to get on yesterday, but it was NSD 12....3 more to get in 4 days  and I need to spend today as my DS2 has a birthday party to go to an I need to get a card and wrapping paper (I can use a toy he got for xmas that he hasn't opened as it was a duplicate...is that wrong :o) so I can't spend for the rest of the week  In a nutshell, I don't think I will make it as I am going on a school trip on Weds and am sure I will have to open my purse at some point for that!

    Anyway......

cw - sounds like things are going swimmingly :D I agree with everything that has been said re grey hair comments eg a bit of a warning bell, but you have to trust your instincts x I used to colour my hair all the time and it is easy (now it is highlighted so I have to go to a hairdresser)
