I'm near Stirling so Chelmsford is a bit far away ;)

Not sure auction is the best idea - especially after the last £250 shed I bought...

The dealer probably paid £80 for thatshed though, most shed buyers would just fix the tank issue as cheap as they could or only fill it to half tank.

The trick with a shed is remember it is a shed, if you can get round the problem then do so, but never try and put the car back into mint condition, it is a shed, MOT repairs and basic servicing only, repeat till it goes bang, then back down the auction for another.

I guarantee the dealer you bought the Pug off changed the tank or fixed the problem for pennies and then sold it to a shed driver to £250 again, probably has several years shed running left in it.

If you think you are going to get a new car feeling out of a shed then you are on your way to a hiding.

A mate that used to travel down from Sunderland every week used to buy a shed and get say six months out of it then buy another, he would easily do 35k a year, some cars lasted months some less, one lasted over a year. He eventually bought a Subaru at a Japanese Auction site, IBC Japan, it had 9k from new and was 10 yrs old, he has had it for four years now and it has gone well past 120k now, only issue was valve problems caused by running on LPG without Flashlube, he got the valves done and now has Flashlube, he will get rid soon, maybe when it gets to 150/160k.

He now lives in Sunderland but works in South Yorkshire area, as he works for YAS now, still does high miles though as most days he has a 100mile round trip.

He did the bangernomics thing for nearly 10 years though.

He bought most of them from an Auction house near Sunderland, Scottish Motor Auction group I think.

I can guarantee you he didn't because I've seen the Certificate of Destruction with my own eyes.

I know previous posts say a cheap Focus isn't going to be any good but I've seen a Y reg estate for £550 - claims to have tax and MOT april 2012 - gotta be the wrong price surely?

My fear with the Focus is that it's 'desirable' -- so the only ones that fetch shed money are complete nails.

That's why you want the model no-one else does.

I was thinking that. I'm going to have a look at this one tomorrow anyway but I'm very sceptical - if it looks too good to be true and all that.

It's at a trader which makes me even more suspicious
  • Cough,cough.....thanks for my suggestion...
Went shoplifting at the Disneystore today.

    ;) Sorry.

I'm still wary of it though - has mismatched front and rear plates suggesting a shunt

Could just be changed as it was broken or discoloured, I even changed one of mine when I put the old one on the trailer and put the new one on the car.

Fair play - I'd personally never change one, but then it is a shed.

£550 too cheap for a Focus Estate?
