Hi Ms London - I'm another of the 20somethings on the board; I'm 25. I really love to cook, which is what attracted me to the OS community, and it has really helped me drive down my debts by getting to know what and why I was spending money. I never really was one for ready meals etc, but since reading this board I've really got the hang of shopping sensibly, using leftovers, and cooking pretty much any obscure ingredient that the Riverford box can provide! Thanks to MSE I know I'll be debt-free next year; but it does worry me that there are so many people our age who spend so much, and even if they're aware that they're in debt, don't seem to try and change their spending patterns. Just learning to cook a few meals, keeping a spending diary (another plug for https://www.spendingdiary.com - it's so neat!) and paying off more than the minimum would make such a difference for most people.2015 comp wins - £370.25
Recent wins: gym class, baby stuff
Thanks to everyone who posts freebies and comps! :j0 -

Im a 24 year old os newbie.:D My mum introduced me to the site and I love it! I live with my oh in a gorgeous one bed flat which should in theory necessitate a old style lifestyle coz the place looks a tip with one plate lying around and not got tons in the way of storage space, so the site is helping me try to sort that out. I also adore cooking so the recipes are fab!!!
I agree that many people in our age bracket don't seem to understand the consequences of spending money that isn't theirs....to be honest I was lucky and got an early rude awaking with thanks to an evil ex. Loads of the girls I work with are out every friday and saturday night and some sundays. I don't know how the do it, but then Im not really a drinker.

I really know that feeling, the hate it one. I was fortunate in high school and college to have friends who didn't care, but work is a completly different story. I've been offered so many drinks to get me to go out you wonder what it is they think im missing out on, Im mean when I do go out I have a laugh and its fun, but coz Im generally the sober one I get bored aroud 11pm and want to go home, and arguing that you've got work in the morning doesn't work so well when your out with work ppl.
P.S we're not boring for not drinking much!!!! We're special!!!When life gives you lemons......Grab a bottle of tequila and call me over!

Hello...
I'm 21 and I LLLOOOVVEE this site, too addictive tho I think!
I live with my DH and my cat Tinkerbell. I love being OS and I've got obssessed with saving money!:j
We've just bought a greenhouse, grew a bit of veg last year, plan our meals etc, buy second hand clothes etc. Before I need something I think do I really need it etc. We bought our first house last year and that is just because we worked really hard (2nd jobs etc) and we saved all our pennies...
I used to really care what people think but now I think that lifes too short to try and keep up with other people, we're quite happy in our own little world!0 -
No it doesnt! And thats even more annoying, I just cant be bothered to spend loads of money going out getting drunk when it could go on so many better things! The getting bored around 11 is annoying too, they look at me with such a look of disgust - 'you mean you're not drinking tonight?'weeping_river wrote: »I really know that feeling, the hate it one. I'm 21 and I love this site! I try to visit daily but that doesn't really work so i have to catch up at the weekend. My OH is a student so money is always tight as we live on my wage which is pretty good but seems to get eaten up every month on necessities. (Food/Heating/rent) I'm really into the MS Old Style and I will be carrying on even when we have two full-time incomes in a few months!
I'm also not big on the drinking my money! We are much more likely to curl up with a movie and glass of wine than go out and spend goodness knows how much out on the town. I do feel i should be a lot older than 21 though!

I'm 26 and have been an MSE addict for years! Always been old style at heart but turned into committed OSer a few years ago when we were paying off a credit card bill. We haven't looked back since!
For me my philosophy is that we have a finite supply of money. I want to spend more money on what I choose to spend it on (saving for house deposit, spending on our motorbikes etc), and less on what I have to spend it on (bills etc). As for food - I love food and I love cooking, but I still want to do it as economically as possible! And I think it's a huge waste to throw food out.0
