Hi All
Im loving this thread now its started i didnt expect it to get any replies!
Ive decided to set my new years resolution early this year - i was sat counting out the pennies last night and working out my wages (how much im due thanks to lots of overtime next month) and i figured out that im going to be gettign about as extra £70 - £80. so my new years resolution for this year is............to save up so we can have a proper family holiday
Me and DP have never had one and we've been together 5 years this year and my little boy (2.5years) has never been on a holiday not even locally. So i think im going to save up and take him even if i can only manage to save enough for butlins or something.Time to find me again0 -
I'm 22 too!
I love this site and am always lurking on OS for recepies and ideas!
I have found it hard to be OS and to not spend so much money, the thing is when i was growning up i always had money, the latest clothes, trainers etc and if i wanted anything all i had to do was ask and i would get it, i still sometimes think, i still have loads of cash!
Me and my fella are moving in together next year so i think i'll have more incentive to be more OS as there will be more to cook for.
Me and DS just seem to eat the same things all the time!:j Baby boy Number 2, arrived 12th April 2009!:j0 -
Hiya
I'm more of a lurker than a poster as i don't think i have much to say or anything people would want to hear..lol.
I am 23 years old and mum to a 6 and 2 year old. My hubby would have been the os one and loved saving money but i was completely different and loved spending money which got us into debt and now nearly all paid off.
We have booked out holiday for nxy year at £250 for Haven in ayr, for 4 of us for a week, was half price a few months back, and am well pleased as now have it paid off as well.
I sometimes feel like a skint flint cause all my friends are out partying, eating ou and i try to avoid doing these things with them cause of the money. I love this site now and am here all the time. We used to spend £100 a week on food shopping and last week it was £25, cause i was using up cupboard items and making meals from them.
Thanks to everyone who posts tips and meal ideas.

Ah hun, dont be afraid to post, i'm sure alot of us somethimes think we post alot of shed ( i know i do)
I know what you mean about the partying situation, i used to go out all the time, every weekend, i dunno how i done it living on £100pw.
Now i think it's a waste of money, of course their nothing wrong witht a odd night out but when ur spendning £20 a time it can mount up!
So are u from ireland then? what part? my boyfriend is from donegal, he's lush!:A:j Baby boy Number 2, arrived 12th April 2009!:j0 -
Only £20 a time, i wish..lol
When hubby and i go out we take £100 between us, which is crazy and i hate the thoughts of paying it now.
I'm from Northern Ireland near Belfast, but have been to Donegal once or twice and it's lovely down there. Abit too quiet for me thou..lol
Thanks for your post, going to make more of an effort to post now as well.

well i only spend £20 on night out (but then we used to get bladdered before we left the house)
My fella spends too much down the pub!:j Baby boy Number 2, arrived 12th April 2009!:j0 -
Well, you've said a few things worth hearing already Patricia! I am 20 years older than you (eeek!) and just dreaming of taking the family on holiday somewhere a bit special as my kids are teens and will soon be wanting to be with their friends not parents! I think you've done a great job planning, booking and paying well in advance: now you will not only be able to dream of it but when you get there you won't be wondering how it gets paid for :-)Irishmummyof2 wrote:Hiya

Thanks for that - you have spurred me on to keep saving those £2 coins and have a look for somewhere we could aim for! (Keep posting!)Miggy

Aww thanks Miggy, I love posting but was sometimes afraid to step on anyone's toes or say something stupid..lol
I need to start saving my loose change now for the spending money but feel so relieved and proud that it's paid already and don't have to worry about it, where as my friend has her holiday booked and it's costing her £2000, which is far too scary for me to tackle.I would like to be able to admire a man’s opinions as I would his dog - without being expected to take it home with me."
