Stunning quilt Tootles......Do you do it all by hand????

Pennineman (did I spell that right?) What did you teach? It's amusing to hear from a mans perspective, I hope Mrs P didn't get too soggy this morning on her way to the car.

Re Mini meet -- Count me in (kids and DH all being well and able to cope without me that is) I can meet up with a friend in the morning to see a gallery that he's been banging on about for the last year....kill 2 birds with one HM muffin :D

Moggins - Really sorry to hear what your DH said -although (and sorry if it offends) maybe he's had a tough time dealing with it all too and could do with some councilling? We often forget how these things effect other people....it in no way excuses what he said but I'm all for giving the benefit of the doubt.

DD2 is shamefully tucking into frozen chips and nuggets as DD1 had a late invitation out for tea - she already did the "ooohhh mum I thought you meant HM chips............" bless her.

Right time for a glass of the white stuff whilst I get the dough out of the machine and into the oven for rolls to go with HM malagatwanie(sp) soup.

    Have a lovely evening all.

    Hi Everyone,

Hope you have all had a good start to the week. I had to take the day off work ,to look after DS as my dad is ill, and mum was working.Ended up in the charity shop (as normal):D,and got 2 new next t-shirts for DS,a massive brand new xmas colouring book,a new bag, three books for DS and me, a lovely labelled dog teddy and a boxed baby giftset (toy and shampoo) for £2.60.

Also had an afternoon,of making cakes with DS. Ended up with a lattice apple pie,12 mince pies and 30 chocolate chip cookies. Had a reduced price pizza (£1) for tea, with reduced price Jacket potatoes & cheese (15p).

Also completed normal tasks of general housecleaning etc...:D

    Have a good night all...Powie

    Pooky,

The quilt was pieced by machine and then hand quilted, if it had all been done by hand I would still have been plugging away at it...............I still have several more tops finished which are waiting to be layered up and quilted either by hand or machine. I like hand quilting, its very relaxing......the cushion covers I do take a couple of nights, the quilts over 100 hours........it depends on the amount of quilting and also the size of the quilt, the churn dash is a king size bed quilt.... if it was being sold it would retail at about £600. As you know I rarely sell a quilt, people just do not want to pay the cost of having a quilt done by hand. Even machine quilting is expensive........

Thank you to everyone who has commented on my quilt, I do appreciate your comments...........

    Ohhh busy day today! :hello:

Took all the stuff to the charity shop and had a right old natter with the eccentric lady who works in it. She cracks me up, she does, and has a heart of gold :)

Then off to do a quick survey and then lunch at Canary Wharf - pretty in the summer, but with today's rain it was real pants. Later, a bit of shopping and home I came, to enter my reports online - still at it now.

Among the stuff I found when clearing out in the kitchen was a tea caddy with green tea in it. I did try it when I first bought it, but I prefer my cuppa of traditional tea. However, since green tea contains lots of antioxidants and is very beneficial, I decided to find a way to use it - and I have.

I cut a teabag and put the leaves in an empty wine bottle, then poured boiling water in it. Let it brew and cool down, then strained it into a jug and now I'm drinking it cold in place of just water - Tastes ok. :)

Oh I read back on moggins's unpleasant OH, and I have to say that if he were my OH, my flat's floor would be clean and polished like it's never been before. But his face would be sh*t dirty.

edit So sorry I missed that: Hope you had a great birthday Onestep!!! :T

  • Thanks Taplady - I'm obviously rather nervous. This preparation stuff is deeply unpleasant. So much so that I haven't eaten anything today (that said, the list of what I was allowed was very prescriptive!)

So I wont see you lovely ladies and gents tomorrow, but hope to see you Wednesday.

    Big hugs in advance!
