    Re: mini-meet

Last time we met at that pub on Holborn it was a Sunday evening and it was nice and quiet. Perhaps we could do the Sunday on this occasion too - except maybe in the afternoon, so that those coming from further afield have a chance to get home?

Am about to make brocolli soup - can I put the stalks in as well, or will it taste nasty?

The Sunday would be good for me as well. I could go and see DD in the morning in her new flat then trot along to the meet.

I think i've found out what my eye problem is - Ocular Rosacea. I was diagnosed with skin rosacea last year and was given a gel to put on, it was very mild and cleared up quickly and I sort of forgot about it. This morning I suddenly thought about it and looked it up on the net. Bingo, the symptoms are identcal so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's treatable and that I'll be able to wear my lenses again.
  • Oh yeah!! Forgot to say how impressed I was with myself yesterday!!

I only had half a pack of beef mince (enough for 2) and so I added soya mince and lentils and made a spag bol with 5 portions!!! :D

Not been around again for a bit as i've been feeling a bit under the weather, and busy with Charlie. Again, i'm still shocked how much time one small person can take up. Doesn't help that DH's work has gone silly, ie. he did a 22 hour day on Friday, so he's about as much help as a choccie fireguard. He did hold charlie while i wrote the chrimbo cards though, and went and got us fish and chips on saturday night. ;)

big hugs to moggins. Hope you manage to sort things out and feel happy about the resolution. Sometimes people don't think before their mouths engage.

congrats to penny pincher. hope the day is special.

oooh - another mini-meet. I might see if i could persuade the DH that we should have a weekend at the in-laws that weekend. :D Wouldn't be able to promise that i could make it, but i would love to think i could. DH is starting to be a lot more appreciative of the time spent on here and said the other day that he could see where it had made a difference at home. So he may be up for it.

stirring baby, so best get back to it. Slavedriver hey ;) still trying to keep up with you in spirit, if not so much in action and communication

    Michelle, xx

I think you've hit it right on the head there. The thing is, if I'm honest, I can imagine "not thinking" and saying something as crassly insensitive as that myself :o - though not in that particular situation, I have to say - but the difference is that I'd know how out of order it was as soon as I'd said it (leading to grovelling apologies etc), which Moggins's OH doesn't seem to have acknowledged

Re London meet, I just noticed that it's 6th Feb till 12th Feb that AussieLass is around, which are both Sundays (edit: actually the 6th is a Monday  ), so my suggestion of meeting up on a Sunday might not be practical as it'll be Aussie's first/last day... Aussie, can you confirm whether you're LEAVING on the 12th or whether you're around in London in the afternoon/evening? Shall we pencil in the afternoon of Sunday 12th February, with possible change of date to the 11th depending on Aussie's schedule? I was thinking it would be ideal to meet closer to Victoria as several are coming that way, I'll do a bit of research! :D

  • Hi all, Happy anniversary PP.

I believe that growing pains are when the ligaments cannot keep up with the bone growth, at least that is what I read somewhere. It was one of those articles saying our Mums are not as barmy as we like to think!!!!

Went to my craft workshop today - really enjoyed it - last one until the end of Jan. I made a glass votive holder (rather decorated one) I leadlined a poinsettia and coloured it in with glass paint, I am thrilled with the results.

Had porridge for brekkie, cheese on HM bread for lunch and not sure about dinner yet OH is not home tonight so just me and the kids. DD3 is requesting bacon sarnies and as she has school lunch and has just informed me that she had third helpings it is all she needs!

I went to lidl early this morning to pick up a bargain microwave £39.99 with integral grill. Three year warranty. I also got my christmas wine from there I could not believe my eyes at the prices of good wines. I had been on the DFW thread and some of the guys on there told me the best brekkie cereals to go for so I got some of them as well. Eggs and cooked meats were cheap and so was instant coffee. All in all I spent £92 but I would normally have spent £70 of that on the wine. I got 6 big bottles and 2 little ones for hampers.

All in all a good day apart from the rain - I also got a large umbrella in lidl for £2.49 which was handy for walking to and from my workshop!!!

Love and hugs to all who need them.

    Louise

Your votive holder sounds lovely Jellycat! Post a picture!

Soup is made, and I chucked in the broccolli stalks and didn't bother peeling the potatoes, and its delicious (although very, very filling! :D). I think next time, I'll try frying off some bacon with the onion/garlic to make it taste even nicer.
