    Hello everybody,

Just got home from the mainland and have yet to unpack. Well we unpacked the material side of it up at the house but all my groceries are in the kitchen. Threw the cold stuff in the fridge first and just on here vegging out for 5 mins before I resume. We forgot vacume bags & drop sheets. The two things we need badly. I might have to duck over again tomorrow and get them. The floorcoverings are going down on Friday and all the plastering, sanding, painting etc has to be done.

CM I'm waiting another couple of weeks until I take photo's as it should all be done then. You can see the finished product. Noticed in Picasa they have a web album now so will pop them in there and post a link.

Amanda I don't know your circumstances but if you have the time maybe you could look at doing some volunteer work somewhere. You meet some lovely people and it gets you out of the house. ((((((hugs)))))

Snowy I haven't found my tree or my decorations yet. :p

PP & MrPP Happy Anniversary. I will have a glass of red tonight in your honour. :D

Hope you all have a lovely day. Byeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • Morning everyone :santa2:

Another wet and wild Monday here. How I long for a crisp, cold, dry, sunny day.

Rotten night's sleep so I got up early and have made the lunches and had my shower. Just need to make a fruit salad for DD and me and write out DS's raffle tickets (that he should have handed in last week. ).

My gippy tummy has meant that I haven't been cooking much and as a result have just thrown three chicken breasts and some sausages in the bin. If I had noticed them lurking at the bottom of the fridge I would have moved them into the freezer before they had gone off. Oh well, a lesson learned and all that.

    Happy Anniversary to Penny-Pincher

Right, off to waken DS and get that fruit salad made. Have a marvellous Monday everyone.

  • Morning all.

It is so cold here today. Very windy and rainy.

Sorry to hear some are not feeling too spritely this morning for various reasons. Hopefully the week will improve things for you. :)

Not sure what I'm going to do today. The house needs a buff up for sure. I'm ashamed to admit that the worse room in the house is our bedroom. Can hardly lecture the kids about keeping theirs tidy when ours has stuff all over. :o Shall sort that today, I think.

DS1 has just come downstairs and given me a reproachful look. I forgot to turn my alarm clock off and it's been singing for ages apparently. Second time in the last few days I've done that. I don't even know why I set it for 6.50 because the chances of me sleeping beyond 4.30 are remote!

Off to do some OSish things before I run DS1 to work and settle DS2 to his pc coursework. Cauli-cheese with pasta for DH & I tonight and chilli tortillas for the lads. Can't believe I have tea figured this early. :D

    Take care all.

  • Morning all! What a lot of people up already!

Today I'm cooking the second batch of mincemeat, that the children prepared yesterday. Also planning to make some chicken pasties - DD's choice. She'd like some small ones for her lunchbox, too. Need to make a cake - chocolate I think.

Started writing my cards yesterday. Bit late for me, I like to have them ready to go by 1st December. Last few bits to buy from the internet today, too, then I'm done.

House cleaning and decluttering is going pretty well - I now have plenty of cupboard space to stash things that start hanging around over the holiday. Only 3 more days at work, so can't wait to break up!

Happy Anniversary Mr and Mrs PP!

Have a great Monday, Penny. x

  • Good morning all and happy aniversary to penny pincher i hope you have a lovely day :) , well yesterday i didn't do my baking i decided to clean the kitchen and defrost the freezer instead (if i was easily shamed i would be ;)) it hasn't been done for 2 years (when i bought it) and the ice was about 2" thick and took an age to do, so now i've got room to freeze some food for christmas lol, it's been raining here so hard that it's dripping down the chimney and anniebooklover i too can't wait for a dry crisp day, it just seems to have rained most of the year in stoke :(

Well i'm definately going to bake some puff pastry mince pies this morning, then i'm tidying the bedroom and wrapping some pressies (didn't get that done either  )

Hugs to all that need them today, if you're feeling poorly i hope you feel better soon

    Happy Anniversary PP

Thanks for all the thoughts yesterday, they meant the world to me. I still haven't pinned DH down as I don't want to have a row in front of the children and as he's been working all weekend it's been hard to find a time when they are not around, he's been suffering from the cold shoulder and can't work out why :(

I have loads of work to do today but my back is playing up again so I am going to throw a couple of painkillers down my neck and see how much I am up to after that. DS is also off school, he's been suffering from pains in his knees that make it difficult for him to walk for the last couple of days so I will have to make a doctors appointment for him. DH reckoned it was "growing pains" but I've heard there is no such thing so I'm playing it safe and getting him looked at. He grows at such a rate of knots that he's already suffered from fainting spells because of his growth spurts.

I finally finished the scarf I knitted for my neighbour so that's 3 down, only two more to go now.

    Morning everyone :hello:

    Happy anniversary Mr & Mrs Penny-Pincher! :j :j

I had the most terrible night's sleep last night. It's really windy and someone had evidently put their recycling out last night, hadn't weighed it down so it's blown over and is now covering the whole street. This means that I had the not-very lulling tones of a tin can rolling backwards and forwards. All I could think at one point was "if they'd crushed the can like they are supposed to, then I would be able to sleep". So, I'm now in a grump and I think that DH left for work in one too.

I had a lovely day in London yesterday. I met up with my old uni housemates, which is something that we started doing each Christmas and then it extended to three times a year. We had lunch in Covent Garden and stayed there for 3 hours!:o They didn't seem to mind and one friend had managed to get their Christmas party menu for us, so we even had crackers! :D

We've got some other friends coming round for supper tonight. DH had offered my services as chef as I'm not working! Starter is carrot and corriander soup (which he made yesterday :)), main course is beef bourgoinon (sp?! It's too early) and pudding is.......... erm........... well, it was going to be creme caramel, but it would be the first time that I've ever made it and our friends are real foodies, so I might just wimp out and make a chocolate pudding. ;)

Other than that, I've still only got one bid on my ebay bits. Still loads of time to go and I've had one question asked on another item. Fingers crossed, it's the reply they're looking for and they'll put in a bid!

    Take care everyone
