    Hello All,

I had a great weekend, even managed to go to see my beloved football team play as my brother-in-law gave us free tickets :)

My eBay sales looked promising, I had watchers on every item and I got asked questions about stuff but in the end I sold one cardie for a tenner, ho hum, it's a tenner I never had before so I can't grumble.

I am up to £35.50 on One Poll (no surveys today tho, I am guessing due to the bank holiday) so I am hoping for £40 winging it's way to me soon.

I had a look at the £10 a day thread- it is fab and I got loads of good ideas, might sign up for the September one now.

Oh and also, I am in a great mood as my healthy eating and exercise plan is going great guns, I have lost 5lb in a month, woohoo! If I keep going this way I will need to stop flogging my skinny clothes on eBay :rotfl:

Anyway, off to get some lunch, hope everyone is having a good day,

    Jules x

    Hey Jules,

Well done you on the weight loss!! It's a lovely feeling :-)

Ebay seems to be coming along nicely, every little bit helps. I've never done it before, I don't have the patience for such things sadly neither does OH. We take it to the charity shop (tut tut, I know!) but we do feel better when we receive a letter giving us an update of how much it has sold for and contributions to charity :)

Hope you enjoyed the last bit of your BHols and have yourself a good day xx

Thanks Choc, hope you had a good bank holiday too :)

At times I don't have the patience for eBay either, I was standing ironing the cardie I sold at 10.30 last night so that I could post it on the way home from work this evening thinking 'all this for a tenner' lol, but you are right every little bit helps :)

    Hello All,

I made my fourth and final payment to the creditor who offered me a full & final settlement in installments a few months ago. As usual, it did not go smoothly as yet again they had tried with my old card before I called them! Then when we established the correct details, the person I was talking to had to bring in a supervisor as the balance was still showing as being the whole total (and quite rightly so, had I not paid for any reason today, the amount owed would have reverted to the full amount). This, however, took 25 minutes to explain to the girl on the phone and I am still sitting waiting for my email confirmation of the payment (although to be fair, she did zero the balance while I was on the phone and wrote to their head office to request closure of the account). Whew! So that's another creditor off my list :j

The best bit of the entire conversation was when she told me once I had my email confirmation through, I would be at liberty to apply for another loan. I have politely declined :rotfl:

Hope everyone is having a good day,

Thanks Choc, it was very nice settling it as it was a particularly big one so that's another bit of colouring done on my spreadsheet :D

  • Hello All,

Not been on my diary for ages as I have been having a bit of a bad time debt busting wise. I was partly adopting my old trick of sticking my head in the sand and partly felt like too much of a fraud to update my diary.

In a nutshell, what happened was I couldn't pay my debt management plan this month. I know, after my rent, it should be my priority. All I can say is, desperate times call for desperate measures. I can't say too much on here as I have a sneaky suspicion that a couple of folk I know may have rumbled who I am (I must say, I haven't covered my tracks too well) and if I said what the massive bill I got hit with was for, it would definitely take away any element of doubt they might have.

Anyway, I couldn't pay and didn't know what that means, what happens to the plan etc. Then the finance dept of my DMC emailed me and said that they saw I hadn't paid but would I confirm that I would resume paying next month. Of course, I emailed back immediately to say I would and that I appreciated their understanding etc. For a few days all went quiet then an avalanche of daily calls started, although these have now stopped, just one every day at 2pm ish. My OH and I never ever argue but we are coming close to it at the mo as he thinks I should bite the bullet and answer the phone. I completely agree with him yet I have yet to answer. I am, deep down, a big chicken so I haven't faced up to answering them yet. Oddly enough they haven't written to me and the only communication I have is from my old bank doing their usual and saying I have 14 days to pay before they hand it to a solicitor, but the letter refers to last month's payment which I made on time.

So anyway, I have passed the past couple of weeks working very hard to take my mind off this horrendous mess I have managed to get myself into. I should clarify though, I haven't been on a mad spending spree, it was a bill related to my work and I rationalised that since there was no way to reduce the payment or work out a plan for paying it, it was better to keep my job secure and then worry about the debt management stuff. Sorry for being a bit cryptic about it all.

Anyway, I am continuing to worry myself sick and as another diversionary tactic have started comping with the marvellous advice you get on here to help you. I haven't won anything yet but it is good fun and keeps me busy. Also, I am delighted to say I hit the £40 payout on OnePoll the other night (it's only taken me 9 months hehe). I've also finally sold my leather jacket, woohoo! The sale closes tomorrow but the bid is already in. And lastly, one of the sites I registered on at Christmas to be a product tester sent me my first ever product to test today. Some very nice facial cleanser.

So it's not all bad news :) I guess I will plod along and see what happens, I expect an onslaught of nasty letters and calls as this is the time of the month when my creditors would be paid. Hey ho, my own fault and I will just need to put up with it. I know I should be on the phone to my DMC and I might get up the nerve to do it next week when OH is in the house with me, my main problem with it is I have no good news to tell them, I haven't magically found the £800 to pay them so what to say.....

Anyway, I have rambled on for more than long enough. Hope everyone else is good, I will catch up on diaries later on. My boss is irritatingly enough expecting me to work for a living today so I must press on.

Sorry to hear you're having a hard time Jules.

Defnitely best to pick up the phone and explain to your DMC - at least then you will know what you're dealing with.

I wouldn't answer the phone to any creditors though - let them write to you if they want to contact you. It should be your DMC dealing with your creditors anyway, not you.

I know you've been unsure before but would be a really good time to switch your DMP to a non-fee paying one.

Well done on sticking with the ebaying! :D

Thanks Beccie, I know you are right about the DMC, I think that is a job for Monday morning (they are closed over the weekend and I am still trapped in the office :) )

    Thanks again,

Find out the info you need then, get the phone numbers written down etc etc, then relax and enjoy the weekend! Don't worry about dealing with it till Monday when you can actually do something :)
