Haha, i know, I dont even go to the uni!

It basically says, They will return my case to the uni, and then in the same letter it says I will go to court, then again it says the uni will start court action.

Also worth noting, the fine is still £60 haha

    Got another one this morning,

This one claimed that this is my last chance to pay, or they would refer my case to back to Sheffield uni to deal with.

Is this them trying a new one?
Don't they usually claim they will pursue it themselves?

So they are sending it back to Sheffield Uni so it surely wasn't a 'Newlyn ticket' then, as we said earlier? They are debt collectors, as I said before, not a parking company, they don't issue fake PCNs that we have ever seen, as notts_phil says, they just chase them up to try to scare ignorant people into paying.

Just ignore them, you have all the info you need here. All Newlyn letters are in the top thread here already, stop worrying just because you are in the middle of a letter-chain you could/should have checked out and been ready for months ago:

I presume you did see the Watchdog video in another sticky info thread, 'Welcome, please read before posting'? If not, do some reading of the main threads about private parking co's (PPCs) and the two important top sticky threads I mentioned.

See out the scam, it's easy. Been there done that 3 years ago with another PPC and so have most posters on here.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I still have the original Newlyn ticket if you would like me to upload a pic of it?
Yes I've read the info in the threads, i was simply updating the thread, not asking for advice.

    To Coupon-mad -
welcome back, nice to see you again, hope the holiday was good and you got yourself a tan (if you require one!) ;) .
It's all happened with me too: the Euro Car Parks threatograms for the four incidents around the time I became a member are all coming in, they get sent back marked "refused"; Parkforce are out for their pound of flesh, but they get sent back "refused", and ROXBURGHE have me on the band waggon, but, it all gets sent back (after my first two letters to them admonishing them to chase the driver and their reply citing two cases in 28 years when the keeper who failed to name the driver in court lost). This isn't court. Then there's the CP Plus/ParkingEye which just goes on and on...yawn! Nice to see a friendly face back, hope you don't abandon us again!

    To Jon Coyle -
of course if it makes you feel better you can upload the document but all the indications are that this is another scam. The only occasions PPCs may have power is when on railways or when on public land when acting on behalf of council. Either way, when the word "civil" appears on their signage, you know that Contract Law is the legislation, that the matter would be resolved in County Court (not Magistrates') - in other words, it won't be resolved by the court at all! So all you need to know is that PPCs in hospitals, airports, shopping centres and universities are all full of hot air. Landowner's losses are zero and that is all that can be reclaimed within Contract Law. You are safe.

They are issuing tickets in their own name! Or more likely offering the Uni a all in one issue and collection service?

Didn't mean to preach to the converted! But you will be surprised to know that in 3 years coming on here I had never seen a picture of a Newlyn ticket till now (thanks esmerobbo). Universities seem to often use 'the Car Parking Partnership' or CP Plus in my experience - all much of a muchness though...a fake PCN is still a fake PCN! :p

Could one of you please pm Crabman with the image of a Newlyn fake PCN so that it can be added in its own right to the top 'PPC letters' sticky thread?

I do hate Newlyn as their debt collector chaser letters are among the worst. Not only do they use misleading headed notepaper which includes their 'bailiff' status even though they are not acting as bailiffs when debt collecting, but they also breach OfT debt collector guidelines with their terrible letter-wording too (irrelevant & misleading stuff about CCJs and removing goods, I seem to recall).

P.S. And thanks RENEGADE, yes I had a lovely holiday and we got a tan (Italy was very hot!). Carefully planned to fit our hols in just as school broke up but getting back in time for the new footie season in our new stadium - what a great Summer this is so far, for a Seagulls fan! :D
