Newlyn parking charge notice, on uni car park

Hi guys,
I left my car overnight on the uni car park where my girlfriend lives, i've parked there every few weeks for 2years now with no problem.

This time however i went back to the car and found a parking ticket on the window, it's a Newlyn parking charge notice.
For £60 or £100 after 28days, the stated offence is not displaying a valid permit.
So, should I pay it, Respond or just ignore it?

I can upload a pic of the charge notice if required.

Private parking ticket (invoice), just ignore everything they send you and do not contact them at all.

From what I had read on here I thought that to be the case, will I likely get letters from them?

Just abit worried as I Googled Newlyn and read a story of a guy who ignored them and ended up having his car clamped, and was visited by a bailiff?

Thats exactly what it was... a story, probably written by one of the goons from Newlyn.
Ignore and be prepared for lots of begging letters threatening to sell you loved ones to canned lion meat manufactures.

Haha, no problem, i'll look forward to it.

On a funnier note, a friend of mine was out late one night and pulled on to a car park to rest for half an hour, he fell asleep and woke up to find a ticket on his window, on the passanger side corner, they were obviously careful not to wake him.

Some people find the letters quite scary but when you know they ain't going to do anything about it all becomes rather amusing and if you're sad like me you look forward to the next 'threatening' letter.

You can see why people pay them though, if you don't know any better.

My friends pays them all the time.
What happens if they clamp you?

They can only clamp if they have enough highly visible clamping notices up, and even then only if they could allege you had entered into a contract by reading their signs then had contravened clear t&cs on there.

And of course there 'could' by coincidence be a friendly person in the area who could cut the padliock and release the clamp for you in 'good samaritan' stylee! As clamping is soon to be banned (we hope) and because paying their demand then suing them - & whoever contracted them - for your money back is a massive task, I would say cutting off a padlock then replacing it has to be the best form of self-defence to a private clamp right now.

Oh, and how come you got a 'Newlyn ticket' when AFAIK they are a debt collector, not a private parking co? Show us the ticket please.

So.. 2 months later, I got 2 letters in 3days.

the first of which said I must pay the £60 immediately (I noticed it hadn't increased to £100 as it said it would after 28days)

the second today:

"DO NOT IGNORE THIS LETTER- COURT ACTION PENDING

You are formally advised that unless the payment is received within 14days our client will proceed with registration of the charge in court.
The Debt will then become enforceable by the issue and execution of the distress warrant by certificated bailiffs and will incur substantial costs. It is in your interest to pay immediately."

I feel stupid for asking.. but..
