  • Hi Karmacat - I'm only thinking about ebay and mse-ing, not actually doing much though :)

I found going for a long walk in the countryside seemed to shake off the worst of the cold; and the cough seems to be subsiding. I don't know why I just didn't buy some cough mixture yesterday - doh!

Good luck to you - what is it you do?

Hi GTD!! Hope the man flu subsides pretty quickly!

I hope Mint pay out for you soon - would be a good amount of money coming your way. Then you really can concentrate on becoming a MFW!

Rationing your MSE time  hmm........I'm not the best to comment on that one!!

  • Thanks hypno - it is indeed that especially powerful strain of man flu, but I'll shake it off somehow ;) Actually, I probably caught it from your posts when I was sitting too close to the screen.

My weird way of doing things is to convince myself that I have already done them - e.g. I am convinced that I am DF already. OK, so it borders on the delusional, but it does keep me motivated and in the right frame of mind. My next trick is to convince myself that I have paid off my mortgage (my next mortgage that is) Urm - this is all starting to sound a bit weird... normal service will resume :)

The last time I rationed myself on here, I ended up going backwards with my DFW-ness, so as addictions go, it isn't a bad one to have (convincing myself again...)

Say hi to pania for me

  • Just needed to log that I lost 3lbs last week and 'came into' £500. Question is now whether to save it or throw it at the credit card?

How did you 'come into' £500 by the way?

  • Thanks hypno and seaxwyn!

Somebody owed it to me from ages ago and I'd completely forgotten about it. Unfortunately, I don't think there are any more of those coming my way. Although, if anybody wants to send me cheques...

In my heart I go with seaxwyn (how do you pronounce that?) but in my head I know hypno makes sense... The OH 'suggests' that we need a new sofa and that the washing machine and the sofa are about to expire.

I think I'll put £60 aside for matched betting and put the rest towards getting rid of the Mint card.

  • I was just reading some of the newer threads on here and was just reflecting on my first DFW year. Although I'd been lurking for a while, it has only been a year ago since I signed up to post. Back then, my life was chaos compared to now - constantly missing payments, incurring bank charges, having my banking 'facilities' removed (no direct debits, visa etc), juggling 'no money' between overdrafts at different banks. Dread at what was coming in the post.

I just can't believe that that was only a year ago. OK, so I haven't sorted out the ring-thing yet (why oh why am I so carp at that!) and I've only just got round to losing weight (one thing at a time?), but financially, I'm on much sounder footings and it's all thanks to you people on MSE :) It feels like a real weight is being lifted from my shoulders.

I hope the Oakdale Minx has been lurking as she promised - hi, if you're out there, hope it's all going well PM me some time.

Anyway - time to do some work!
