Hi Scaredy Cat - I tried to explain matched betting to the OH and inlaws to much hilarity on their part. In summary (if I understand it correctly) the betting part should always come out equal (i.e. matched) i.e. you make no money there. You make your money on the introductory and other offers from the bookies? Can you confirm that please hypno?

That's the one! Mind you, when I talk to people about it, they just think I am off my rocker - more fool them really, they obviously don't need the extra money that much!!

  • I managed to get my Mint letter off on Wednesday (procrastination over!) and so will wait 2 weeks to see if they'll pay up the full amount. If (fingers crossed) they pay up, I could sneak under the £6K barrier - how exciting! Well it is for us Nerds I guess :)

Got my ING account details - should get £50 for opening that; plus I just got an email from MNBA saying 'your card is in the post!' - I wasn't quite expecting that. I don't know what the apr or limit will be though. Probably 40% and £500 knowing my luck. Anyway, at least I've got the £8.50 tracking.

Good to read that the Mint letter is sent - hope you get a good result soon.

I had to be happy with the £8.50 quidco cash for MBNA as they turned me down, still at least it is nice to be paid when you are being rejected!!

Hope you are having a good weekend :D

  • Just back from a few days away on 'holiday' with OH, on which I ended up working which went down really badly with OH. Plus weather was duff, so OH down even more.

Managed to get the MBNA card (wasn't expecting that!) with £5000 limit and 0% (shurly shum mishtake?). No hanging around on this one. I've BT'd my Co-op card (21%), which I'll close when the payment is confirmed. I've also BT'd a load off my Mint (20%). Next step this evening is to redo snowball. I was so happy, I even listened to all their PPI sales spiel while they pretended to activate my card.

I've had another letter from Mint reconfirming that they'll only pay the difference between £12 and what they actually charged. I guess it's going to be MCOL time shortly - I have the date in my diary (19 Sept) and I will not be procrastinating this time!

Excellent news on the MBNA card and the ability to balance transfer.

I'm not jealous. No, really I'm not. Absolutely no jealously at all. I am very very pleased for you.

ALL RIGHT, I AM SO BLOODY JEALOUS :rotfl:

  • I'm still in a state of shock hypno :) I used to be jealous of anybody with a card below 20% and now I'm in the gang. Oh well, at least its a sign that good things can happen. Either that or there's a catch somewhere.

The reason I'm surprised is that I'd only just applied for a A&L (MBNA) card at 15.9% and was declined. That's why I didn't bother phoning them back as I was expecting to be declined again. Ho hum...

Now the next step is to kick off the MCOL for MINT. Also need to think of some more ways of making some cash; all ideas welcome!

  • I've redone my snowball and I've decided to push myself to try and bring my DFD closer. If I can rustle up another £100 per month then I can bring my DFD date to November '08. Bring it on! :)

  • Diet has started and I've found a 'tool' to assist http://dontbreakthechain.com/. Ok, so it's nothing to do with dieting, but I think it could help me day-to-day.

Hmm, me thinks I need that thingy on my computer to help me with my "get your butt organised" task.......thanks for the link, and good luck with finding that extra cash - you can do it! Good luck for the dieting too.

As I now have to find an extortionate amount of money for the coming winter season, I cannot afford to eat - so good for the diet. Thanks kids!!

  • Hi hypno - been reading your thread, sounds like your kids are really really getting into their skiing!

OH and I have decided to find £10 for every lb of weight lost so that we can save up for going to China next year to see her brother in the Olympics (fingers-crossed and all that). So you see it never ends - but it is definitely worth it.

A reminder popped up this morning to tell me that I need to start MCOL against Mint today, so I'll need to dig out my login details and templates for that. More expense, and more waiting, but as they've offered me less than half, I've got to do it. I wonder if they read these forums...
