I have a new lcd tv monitor in house and most are easy to clean but our new tv 40" Samsung with glossy black stand is a pig to get dust off. I have tried a micro fibre duster, micro fibre glove, Mr sheen duster (type on a stick). Also the cloth that came with the Samsung.
It just seems to attract the dust like a magnet and the tv cabinet is bad enough I never had this problem with our old 26" LCD tv another Samsung but in silver
also tried hoover with brush but I reluctant to use that because it may cause scratches
I have the same samsung tv and it does my head in i am with you on that0 -
'I almost got a black car last Summer but opted for dark metallic green which is almost just as bad, I have to clean it every week and chamois leather it after as water seems to leave water marks on it'
At least you have a black cat, we used to have a white cat and her fur used to really show on black appliances - thank you for the tip about black cars (I first thought it said cats:D)An average day in my life:hello: :mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T:rotfl: :rotfl:

i use spectacle wipes on my plasma tv they dont seem to leave any streaks are you cleaning it when it is warm or cold .
as for the stand i just give mine a wipe over every day a wipe as well ,
dont use polish on it as this seems to attract the dust0 -
Hi carlamagee,
I use a slightly damp microfibre cloth to gently wipe over the screen then polish it up with a dry microfibre cloth. It works every time.
There's an earlier thread with ideas for cleaning screens so I've added your thread to it to keep the suggestions together.

Hiya all!
I tried looking for this in the big linky thing but couldnt find anything!
My 10yr old son decided that yesterday he was going to "help" me by dusting and hoovering my living room, when finished he came trundling back into the kitchen really proud of himself.......I went to inspect and to my horror, he had decided that he was going to "polish" the screens of my lcd computer monitor and tv screen (which never had been polished on the screen before, I just used to use a soft cloth to get all the dust off and that was fine..we havent had either long) I told him he had done a good job through gritted teeth  and he went off to do his homework....my question is this....my soft cloth is no longer doing anything and won't get rid of the smears!!! How do I de-smear my screens as they're not like telly screens used to be? It looks like I'm writing to you all through a pair of steamed glasses....and when the sun shines through the window....well.....I just hope noone comes round today!!!!
Any help appreciated as always
Thanks

DO NOT use anything that contains water lcd scren will absorb moisture and wreak the screen. Use a good quality dedicated screen cleaner, no heavy pressure0

I bought a spray from kleeneze or betterware can't remember which one offhand , it works a treat on both the laptop and the telly screen cost me £2.99 if my memory serves me correctly . No smears nothing, our dog sits nose on the screen whenever a dog comes on the telly and whine till the dog disappears from screen since spraying this stuff on it it doesn't leave a mark just need to wipe it with microfibre cloth HTHPaul Walker , in my dreams;)0
